I bet he won't help anyone again...
So this kid, who's 14, tries to help out a lost little
girl, who is 3. He ends up finding the girl's mom, and
hands over the toddler, and heads - with his mom - to find a
new pair of shoes.
Sounds like a nice story, but then the cops show up, and
he's arrested for "false imprisonment", which is one small
step down from "kidnapping".

This is what appeasement brings.
Screaming hate and brandishing vile placards, Muslim
extremists clashed yesterday in ugly scenes that marred a
parade by soldiers.

Around 40 members of a group called Muslims Against the
Crusades (MAC) arrived with inflammatory banners featuring
slogans such as 'Butchers return' and 'What are you dying
for? £18k'.

Police, who had received intelligence warning of trouble
at the march in Barking, Essex, separated the groups behind
barriers on opposite sides of the road.
But violence
flared after 200 soldiers from 1st Battalion Royal Anglian
Regiment - who lost five men in a recent tour of Afghanistan
and had been granted freedom of the borough - marched past
thousands of well-wishers.

MAC supporters shouted slogans such as 'murderers,
murderers' and 'British troops go to hell', while the mainly
white crowd opposite, some of whom are believed to have been
BNP supporters, threw frozen pork sausages and chanted
'scum' and 'Allah, Allah, who the f*** is Allah?'
The
anti-MAC contingent then stormed the barriers and traded
punches before around 100 officers, including some on
horseback, broke up the mob.

The clashes came little over a year after Muslim
extremists screamed 'baby killers' and 'rapists' at soldiers
from 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment parading through
Luton after a tour of duty in Iraq.
Members of the
public who travelled to Barking yesterday to cheer the
troops said they were 'disgusted' by what happened.

AT&T Blunders with the iPhone 4 pre-sales
Apple fans who were already unhappy with AT&T, the
exclusive carrier for the iPhone in the United States, got
another reason to complain about it on Tuesday when Apple
and its partners began taking orders for the new iPhone 4.
Numerous people who went to the Web sites of Apple
and AT&T to place orders for the phone, which will be
released next Thursday, ran into error messages. While the
cause of the problems was not entirely clear, many of them
appeared to crop up when the sites tried to retrieve AT&T
customer data.
Beginning early in the day, tales of
exasperation flooded Apple bulletin boards and social sites
like Twitter and Facebook. To make matters worse, a handful
of readers of the technology blog Gizmodo said that when
they logged into AT&T’s site, they found themselves looking
at the accounts of strangers.
An AT&T spokesman, Mark
Siegal, said the company was investigating those reports.
“We have been unable to replicate the issue, but the
information displayed did not include call-detail records,
Social Security numbers or credit card information,” he
said.
Tom Lustig, 41, a data analyst in New York,
said he tried to gain access to the Apple and AT&T sites
starting at 4 a.m. and had no success. He ran into similar
snags when he called Apple’s customer service hotline, where
a sales representative redirected him to AT&T.
“The
preorder is a complete disaster,” Mr. Lustig said.

Apparently planes can poke holes in clouds...
Aircraft
can accidentally punch holes in clouds, leaving a trail of
snow or rain in their wake, a new study finds.
Turboprop and jet aircraft that climb or descend under
certain atmospheric conditions can inadvertently trigger
what's known as cloud seeding. This technology is usually
associated with schemes to control the weather. However,
cloud seeding can happen by accident as planes soaring
through mid-level clouds leave behind odd-shaped holes or
channels in the clouds and cause narrow bands of snow or
rain to develop and fall to the ground.
Holes punched
in clouds are a phenomenon that has been recognized for many
years and seen in photos from around the world. A front-page
feature on Yahoo! carried the headline "A Halo over Moscow"
after photos emerged of just such a hole in October 2009.
The secret behind these mysterious clouds has now been
revealed: Supercooled water droplets that remain liquid even
at subfreezing temperatures — below about 5 degrees
Fahrenheit (minus 15 degrees Celsius). When an airplane cuts
through clouds containing the supercooled water droplets,
air is cooled behind aircraft propellers or over jet wings,
and these water droplets freeze and drop toward Earth.
