10 things you can do to
harm your computer
#1: Plug into the wall without surge protection - Here’s
one that actually can physically destroy your computer
equipment, as well as the data it holds. You may think your
systems are in danger only during an electrical storm, but
anything that interrupts the electrical circuit and then
starts the current back again can fry your components.
#2: Surf the Internet without a firewall - Many home
users plug their computers right into their spiffy new cable
or DSL modems and hop onto the Internet without realizing
that they’re putting themselves at risk from viruses and
attackers
#3: Neglect to run or update antivirus and anti-spyware
programs - Let’s face it: Antivirus programs can be a royal
pain. They’re always blocking some application you want to
use, you often have to disable them to install new software,
and they have to be updated on a regular basis to do any
good.

BHO proposes we go 1.6
TRILLION deeper in debt - in ONE YEAR!
I especially liked his comment about
"Monopoly money"... I think he was trying to steal his
opponent's thunder...
Republicans on Monday slammed President Obama's $3.8
trillion budget as a fiscally irresponsible spending spree,
casting doubt on the administration's claim that the budget
reflects cutbacks and hard choices.
The fiscal year
2011 budget, sent to Congress Monday, includes new
jobs-creation programs and additional funding for the wars
in Iraq and Afghanistan, but is projected to add nearly $1.3
trillion in deficit spending on top of the current year's
projected $1.6 trillion deficit. As he unveiled the budget,
Obama warned the federal government to stop treating
taxpayer dollars like "Monopoly money." But Republicans
questioned whether Obama was doing enough to follow his own
advice.
Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., ranking Republican
on the Senate Budget Committee, said the White House is not
going far enough in tackling the debt crisis.
"We've
got some pretty big problems here. We need some pretty big
solutions," Gregg told Fox News. "This is fiscal insanity --
to continue to grow the government the way we're growing it,
to continue to spend the way we're spending. ... We're going
to pass onto our kids a country that basically is
insolvent."
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell
said the administration shows "no sign of slowing spending."

BHO also proposes 1.1
trillion in tax hikes! (over 10 years - A LOT, but far less
than he's spending in deficit)
While President Barack Obama is proposing to cut some
taxes for companies that hire workers, his budget would
raise a host of other taxes on businesses and wealthy
individuals.
The budget proposal released Monday
would extend Obama's signature Making Work Pay tax credit --
$400 for individuals, $800 for a couple filing jointly --
through 2011. But it would also impose nearly $1 trillion in
higher taxes on couples making more than $250,000 and
individuals making more than $200,000 by not renewing tax
cuts enacted under former President George W. Bush. Obama
would extend Bush-era tax cuts for families and individuals
making less.
Obama revived numerous proposals for
business tax increases that didn't fare well in Congress
last year, including a scaled-down plan to increase taxes on
U.S. companies with major overseas operations, and plans to
increase taxes on oil and gas companies.
In all,
Obama would increase taxes on some businesses and wealthy
individuals by a total of about $1.4 trillion over the next
decade, while cutting taxes for middle-class workers and
other businesses by about $330 billion. The bottom line: Tax
receipts would increase by about $1.1 trillion over the next
decade.

Flying Deep
A new kind of submarine is taking shape: one that 'flies'
down rather than sinks. Using the same principle as an
airplane's use of lift to fly, these subs are positive
buoyancy, "lighter than water" craft that use "lift" to pull
them deeper into the water.

Lighter and more nimble than
their larger, ballast driven cousins, these winged subs are
easier to build, and because they have positive buoyancy,
are safer to operate.

The sub's manufacturer believes
that the use of these subs will help increase the amount of
undersea exploration that can take place, and provide a
better 'experience' for those flying in the small craft

Other stuff...
LOTS of news items got my attention this morning... to
keep things shorter, here are some blurbs I found
interesting:
Illinois Democrats are choosing Tuesday between
candidates who bloodied each other in an ugly battle for the
gubernatorial nomination, while optimistic Republicans are
deciding who will try to seize the executive mansion from a
Democratic Party weakened by infighting and scandal. (More)
An experimental abstinence-only program without a
moralistic tone can delay young teens from having sex, a new

research to show long-term success with an abstinence-only

traditional programs that have lost U.S. federal and state
support in recent years. (More)

Witches, Druids and pagans rejoice! The Air Force
Academy in Colorado is about to recognize its first Wiccan
prayer circle, a Stonehenge on the Rockies that will serve
as an outdoor place of worship for the academy's neo-pagans.
Wiccan cadets and officers on the Colorado Springs

will officially dedicate a newly built circle of stones on
about March 10, putting the outdoor sanctuary on an equal
footing with the Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Buddhist

And Finally... Phil made
his prediction
The chilly temperatures haven't kept hundreds of people

Fireworks helped to "wake up" the town's most

The groundhog
emerged from his burrow in Gobbler's Knob at 7:25 a.m.
