He really likes the easel we got him for Christmas! He really likes the opportunity to draw whenever he wants... which we're finding out is a LOT.

The little guy, true to form, didn't want to come out of his room for Christmas... he'd start, realize things were different, and then want to go back. He finally did, and slowly got into unwrapping, but it took a while to get everything opened... for a while, he was tossing each individual wrapper fragment into the trash bag as he was ripping them loose. =)

Looking like he's not sure what to think, the little guy was VERY interested in the can of Spam I'd taken out. Since mom was at Choir Practice, I fried up some Spam and Eggs, which he seemed to like OK

For halloween this year, he wore the Yoda outfit that I'd gotten last year by mistake. (got the wrong size) He didn't like the hat with the ears, so he was just a 'Jedi', only everyone thought he was a monk. =)

While down in Grays Harbor County visiting family, we stopped by the beach for a bit... the little guy had a great time 'helping' dad with the castles... there's a video on this page, too...

The little guy sure likes slides! We stopped in McCleary on the way to Aberdeen to give the little guy an opportunity to stretch out -- that's a long time to sit for a little guy! We stopped at a park, and the little guy made a bee-line for the slide.

Every so often, the little guy and I need a haircut. I've been cutting my own hair since I've joined the Army, with the same razor I bought just after Basic Training. The last few times, the little guy has been joining in the fun... and this time he helped out.

The park near our house has a small lake - there's a mile long trail around it that makes it nice for walking. The little guy enjoys playing there... both of his favorite things are there - Rocks and Water!

Now that he's a bit older, I got a car seat for the Jeep. We were both curious as to how he'd handle riding in the Jeep, which is much louder (its got a Chevy 350 with headers and glass paks) and bumpier than what he typically rides in. He was EXCITED! And when the engine started, he let out a yell... 'VROOM!'

We went back to the zoo... its just the right size, I think... its big enough to take up an afternoon, and small enough so that you don't wear everyone out looking at everything. I smell a membership in our future! =]

I know its not the smartest thing to do, but I let him play with a camera phone from time to time. Its an phone on a different carrier that we keep charged and let him play with. I set up the camera from time to time, and he holds it up like he sees me do, and he knows which button to press to take the picture. Here are a few that he took

A trip to the zoo
So his first zoo trip was to the Cougar Mountain Zoo in Issaquah. I'd heard all sorts of stories about how 'small' it was... and yep, its small, but its a great place to take kids, and its also sized well enough to take up an afternoon without rushing, and without wearing the little ones out... I had fun, and it seemed the little guy did, too.

For Valentine's day, I gave mom 'The Day Off', and she went to spend the day with her sisters... The little guy and I had a good time. When I was getting his lunch ready, I put him in the chair, and he was so patient and calm, that I had to take a picture so I'd remember it!

One of his favorite things... going after the camera once he notices its on! =] I tried to get a picture or two of him playing, but he caught me with my phone out, and wanted to play with it... so I have yet ANOTHER set of pictures of him chasing the camera! =]

I took him to the doctors for a follow-up (he had his second ear infection), and to get the shots that were postponed on his last visit, because he was sick. Nope, I didn't take pictures of him getting the shots... I got too many emails from the last time I posted them! He was a trooper, though!

After the rain stopped, and things dried up, I took the little guy out for a walk. He had a good time checking out the neighborhood, and finding rocks... his favorite thing!

This is the first known work of art by the little guy... =] Well, at least its an original! =] He LOVES to grab a pen and draw. 'Graw', he calls it. I finally got around to scanning his first drawing.

We went to a 'reunion gathering' of the JWAV teams that went down to Guatemala with AGROS, an NGO that was started with the help of several partner churches. Since we'd gone on a mission, we were invited, and hapily went. We had a great time visiting with everyone, and the little guy seemed to have a good time, too! (Oh, and after posting this, I noticed that we tend to rotate his clothes a bit quick... same outfit for three consecutive posts... I guess he likes that outfit! =])

I'll be the first to admit, I was a skeptic when it came to the whole 'Teaching them to sign' thing... but the little guy proved me wrong! He picked it up fairly quickly, and very quickly associates a hand movement with an event. He also says the word sound at the same time, and I think the whole thing is speeding up his talking... He knows a LOT of words now!

The little guy's second christmas! I took a video, but I didn't take any pictures of his first look at the tree... I was too 'into' it, unfortunatelly. He had a great time, although I'm not too sure if he understood what was going on. =] He got the 'ripping' down quickly enough, though!

So, he's batting 1000 when it comes to a White Christmas! We got a fair amount of snow on Christmas Eve 'Day', and it continued on into the night... the little guy liked it, and had a great time watching the snow falling!
