Hurricane season officially began Sunday and Tropical
Rainstorm Arthur has already come and gone, but continues to bring heavy rain to areas of
southeast Mexico and Guatemala.

Arthur's most dangerous attribute continues to be the
heavy rain associated with its tropical convection. An
average of 5 to 10 inches of rain is expected to fall across
the mountainous terrain of Belize, Guatemala and southern
Mexico, causing flash flooding and mudslides. A strong ridge
of high pressure over the south-central United States will
keep all threats from this storm away from the lower 48.
Arthur will weaken as it continues to track across
southeastern Mexico; however, the heavy rainfall will remain
a threat through at least Monday.
