Following Gabrielle |
Ingrid formed about the same place that most September
storms start... out in the Atlantic, over the warm waters to
the East of the Antilles...

Tropical Depression 8 |
TROPICAL DEPRESSION 8
Tropical Depression Eight is west northwest in the
Atlantic; about 930 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

Environmental conditions over this area due support some
slow development, and this system could become a tropical
storm (named Ingrid) later today.

September 14 - Named Storm |
Overnight Thursday Tropical Depression Eight was upgraded to
Tropical Storm Ingrid. This makes for the ninth named storm
of the 2007 season.

As of early this morning, Ingrid was located about 800
miles east of the Lesser Antilles; Maximum winds were at 40
mph.

Ingrid continues to move very slowly toward the west
northwest, and at this speed and direction it will be
nearing the northern part of the Lesser Antilles by late
Tuesday. Until then, some slow strengthening is possible,
but it is of no threat to land at this time

September 17 - Still a depression, and fizzled out. |
I was away from my computer over the weekend, so I didn't
follow the progression... but on Monday morning, it seemed
that Ingrid was still a depression... and falling apart.
The final notice was issued at 5AM Pacific time. Tropical
Depression Ingrid is dissipating east-northeast of Antigua
in the Lesser Antilles. The remnant low pressure may bring a
few showers and breezy conditions to the Virgin Islands over
the next day or two.

Ingrid, as of 5 am Eastern time, was centered about 120
miles east-northeast of the Antigua, and moving toward the
west at 9 miles per hour. Ingrid is expected to continue to
dissipate.
