Tropical Storm Debby
This wave came off the coast very developed
 

This storm formed almost as soon as the African wave hit open water... it was very organized, even over land.

 

August 21 - Forming?
Tropical storm warnings are in effect for the Cape Verde Islands as the fourth tropical depression of the Atlantic season has formed in the eastern Atlantic. This depression is centered about 250 miles SE of the Cape Verde Islands. This is likely to become the fourth named storm of te season and the name would be Debby. This system should track to the northwest and pose no immediate problems to anything other then the Cape Verde Islands.
August 22 - No Strengthening... yet.
Tropical Depression Four failed to strengthen this morning, but may later today. The depression is located about 140 miles SSW of the Cape Verde Islands in the far eastern Atlantic and is moving toward the WNW at 17 mph. If it attains tropical storm intensity, it would be christened Debby. Meanwhile, the tropical storm warning in effect earlier for the Cape Verdes has been discontinued.
August 22 - Tropical Storm Debby Named
TD4 was promoted to a Tropical Depression at 11PM Atlantic Standard Time, with winds at the minimum 40 miles per hour.

August 23 - Gaining Strength
Tropical Storm Debby is slowly gaining strength in the eastern Atlantic. Winds are up to 45 mph as of the 5 AM EDT advisory.

The storm is expected to continue tracking toward the west-northwest while slowly gaining strength. Debby could become a hurricane within 72 hours.

August 24- Heading NorthEast, but not increasing
Tropical Storm Debby continues to churn out over the eastern Atlantic. . Debby will likely contiue to gain strength and could become the season's first hurricane over the next few days. It will pose no threat to land.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic, a tropical wave just east of the Windward Islands is being monitored for possible further development as it pushes westward at about 20 mph. The disturbance became better organized and could become the next depression later today. Hurricane Hunters may investigate this system this afternoon if needed.

 
August 25 - Plodding West
In the eastern Atlantic, Tropical Storm Debby continues moving west-northwest. Debby has encountered some dry air, and should show little change in strength over the next day. A gradual turn toward a more northerly direction is expected in the next few days, and Debby will pose no threat to land.

August 26 - Running into problems
In the eastern Atlantic, Debby has been downgraded to a tropical depression. It is likely Debby will become extra tropical tonight or Sunday. A gradual turn toward a more northerly direction is expected in the next few days, and Debby will pose no threat to land.

August 27 - Weakening, and winding down
n the eastern Atlantic, Tropical Depression Debby continues to weaken and move northwest, not affecting any land. Debby will likely lose all tropical characteristics today.


 

August 27 - Extra Tropical

Tropical Depression Debby lost tropical characteristics Sunday and will no longer be classified as a tropical system. The final advisory was issued by the National Hurricane Center Sunday afternoon.
