Hurricane Dennis
The Season's First Hurricane
Within a few days of Cindy forming, Dennis formed in the Caribbean.  It was expected to grow to Hurricane strength by Thursday, the 6th, turn NNW, and threaten the US Gulf Coast.

At noon on the 5th, Dennis was nearly at hurricane strength

July 6th saw Dennis grow to Hurricane Strength, quickly becoming a Category 2 storm...

By the morning of July 7th, Dennis was a Category 4, on the brink of Category 5...
These pictures were from the 8th of July... Florida braces for Dennis' impact...

The picture of the wave was taken at Guantanamo... Cuba really gave Dennis a tough time... it went from the edge of a Category 5 to a Category 1... but once it passed through and into the Gulf, it quickly spun back up, and by Saturday afternoon, it was back up to 115 mph/Category 3, and rapidly strengthening.

Dennis Spent Saturday the 9th gathering strength after crossing over Cuba.  By 5:30 PM Eastern, it was back up to a category 3, and had regains its orgainization, and it was strengthening.

Dennis was predicted to come ashore Sunday afternoon...

Sunday, at 3pm EDT, almost on Cue, Dennis came ashore...

It was VERY impressive when it came ashore... 135 mph winds at 1PM, and it was still building.
On Monday, Dennis degraded fast, and soon was a Tropical Depression, and was winding down over Tennessee, dumping upwards of 12 inches of rain.

Overall, it wasn't as bad as folks were expecting, thankfully.

Dennis hung around for a couple of days... dropping rain and wind on the midwest before fading out to the North East... RIGHT AS I WAS HEADING TO NEW ENGLAND, AND FENWAY PARK!!!
