We did go: The Astronauts Speak |
|
This is my biggest stumbling block when it comes to the whole
hoax thing... |

In August of 2007, I went to a Preview screening of a
documentary of the 12 who walked on the moon.. it was
presented by
Bonnie Dunbar, CEO of the Museum of Flight, and a retired
Shuttle Astronaut, who made a point of adding "And, we DID
land on the Moon!" to end her introduction. :-)The movie
was not yet out for
popular release, and it was one of the reasons we picked
that day to go to the Museum.
The focus was on the Astronauts... who they were, how
they felt, and how they feel looking back on what they did.
It was very compelling, and very interesting.

Before it kicked off, the guys who filmed it - and basically
paid for, directed, and produced the documentary - talked about
talking to the astronauts, and trying to convince them that what
they were doing was worth their time... they get pegged for a
lot of interviews, so they pick and choose what they do.
They eventually did get to talk to everyone except Armstrong,
who doesn't talk to anyone, for the most part.
|
The question of "Faking it" came up in the documentary, and
they handled it pretty well. "you know your cousin", said
one of the astronauts, "you don't know me... maybe you SHOULD
believe him over me, but I think I went - I'm sure of it"
They were passionate in their description of what they felt,
the grandeur of it all...

Buzz was very open and frank in the interviews. He
talked a lot about how it affected him, both positively and
negatively - he talked about his mom committed suicide partially
as a result of the pressures surrounding his mission.
When talking about going to the moon, and being on its
surface, he had the same candor, and the same expression, the
same passion...
If they're lying, then I sure can't tell!
they seem VERY convinced they went, and they really seemed to
be telling the truth!
