Did
you know that there's a "Noxious
Weed Control" team in King County? Not only that,
there's matching teams in
Chelan,
Kitsap,
Kittitas ,
Pierce,
Snohomish, and others, I'm sure, as well as one for
Washington
State,
Oregon, and
Idaho.

I noticed a link in my neighborhood
association's website, in an article about getting rid of
Orange Hawkweed (site),
which led me to the site.
I looked around for a bit, and found this
page -
http://plants.usda.gov/java/noxComposite - which has a
listing of the State Noxious Weed Control boards, as well as
a listing of Noxious Weeds, and the states they're targeted
for Termination in.
Interesting stuff... we spend so much to
preserve one plant (like the 20 or so plants that grow ONLY
in ONE cavern in the Columbia River Gorge), and then spend
even more to get rid of others... don't ALL plants deserve
protection? :-)
