The opening of a post office is an important marker of the beginning of a community.

On October 30, 1889, the Snoqualmie Post Office opens. Sherman S. Guilford is the first postmaster.

Mail is distributed from Guilford’s store. The post office is located in east King County three miles northwest of North Bend on the Snoqualmie River at the common corners of Sections 29, 30, 31, 32 Township 24 N Range 8 E.

This should not be confused with the Snoqualmie Post Office which was the original name of the North Bend Post Office.
