Biddeford Timeline: February 10, 1855 - Biddeford Fire Department Formed.

On February 10, 1855, the Town of Biddeford reorganizes, and turns the the volunteer fire stations within the city limits into the Biddeford Fire Department.

The department, under the newly appointed Chief William Thomson, began operations as a city fire department with 75 personnel on the roster and the first major fire requiring mutual aid to neighboring Saco on June 30, 1855.
