1692 - The County of York

The Province of Maine is ceded to the Mass. Bay Province.

A new Charter was established by the King of England.  This document instructed that the territories and colonies currently commonly called and known by:

The Colony of the Mass. Bay
The Colony of New Plymouth
The Province of Maine
The Territory of Nova Scotia
All the tracts of land in between Nova Scota and the Province of Maine

would be incorporated into one Province by the name of Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England.

The former Province of Maine, as far as Nova Scotia, was reconstituted a county under the name of York, and continued in that fashion until 1760, when the County of York was divided, and reduced to its present limits.
