1640 - Thomas Lewis Dies

Lewis is the Patent Holder For Saco

<< Back

In 1640, it is ordered by the Court of Massachusetts that ‘Francis Robinson executor of the last will and testament of Thomas Lewis, late of this plantation, deceased, upon the delivery of the goods and chattels now in his custody belonging to the said testator, unto his creditors, shall be then allowed of such reasonable charges as have been by him expended upon two of the children ol’ the said testator since his death.”

Lewis took possession of his Paten holdings in 1637, seemingly in good health.  The rigors of the land, apparently, were too much for him.
