A model of the integrated crew module and launch
vehicle sits in one of four wind tunnel facilities used by
NASA for a series of tests.

Engineers conduct
wind tunnel testing in June, 2006, on a partial model of the
Ares I launch vehicle that includes a portion of the upper
stage, the spacecraft adapter, the Orion crew module and
launch abort system. This image was taken at wind
speeds near 1.5 times the speed of sound.

model of the integrated crew module and vehicle stack in the
Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel at NASA's Langley Research Center.
