2003 Bremerton Quake
<<Back
The Day the Ground Shook On
May 29, 2003, we had a decent-sized quake. I was
checking on a trip for our winter vacation, and just before the quake
started, I felt something weird, and started to look around. Seconds
later, the ground started shaking. It wasn't strong, but still...
when the ground moves, you NOTICE!
I put some information here on this page
about the quake...
The Particulars
The Quake
was about 7 miles southwest of Bremerton, across the Sound from
Seattle, and a bit to the South. It seemed to last about 3-5 seconds,
and it came and went with a quick jolt... not the build up of the
Nisqually quake.

Within 5 minutes, I was online, checking it out... |
|
 |
|
Being "only" a 3.7 mag quake, and being 14.5 miles deep, AND in a
rural area, there was no damage done... unless you count frazzled
nerves.ves. |
 |
 |
Washington gets its fair share of quakes, but when you look at the
country as a whole... |
|
... you get a whole new appreciation for just how many quakes
California gets! |

More than 12,000 people logged into the USGS website, and reported
what they felt. |
