Along Highway 101, near Port Orford, Oregon, a guy named Earnie Nelson created a roadside stop out of some concrete, rebar, and a whole bunch of sweat.

On the day I happened to stop at this attraction in the summer of 1997, I got to talk to Earne, who was manning the store while his daughter, who runs the place (or did at the time) now... I had a great time listening to how he put them all together, and the care he took for "accuracy"  The sizes, and shapes of the dino's are authentic to what he could gather from science books, and many trips to museums.  It was a fun time, and I remember especially how passionate he was about it all, even after all those years.

I can only imagine how difficult the task must have been to get the concrete to stay where he wanted it to!

Building them to scale meant that some of them were REAL tall!  It was very impressive!

A trail takes you through the park, and there's placards along the way describing the creatures you're looking at...

This is a place where a kid could have some fun, to be sure!

I have a fondness for dinosaurs, but this guy's passion for them FAR exceeds mine!  :-)

What's the use of going someplace if you can't have fun while you're there?

I'll be back here again for sure!  Its just the thing to break up a long drive!
