Old Schoolhouses

I went to several different schools, I guess because we moved from time to time.

The schools are still there, but some of them are doing something else.

I went to first grade in Gordon School, which is now an Adult Learning Center.  It was built in the early 1700's, and had an addition added in the early 1800's.  Inside, the floors and lower halves of the walls were covered in dark oak.  I remember it as old, cold, and creaky, and I remember that the teacher had trouble opening the windows.

I went to Fairfield School for second and third grade.  I remember Mrs Whalen's class the most (3rd Grade), mostly because she had a 'snoopy dog house' in her room, and she was the wife of my eye doctor...

When I was in 6th Grade, I would wait here for the bus to take us to the 'new' middle school, which opened in 1970.  This place has remained EXACTLY how I remember it.
