2006.03.09-14 - Down to Peoria
< Back to Trips

We took a trip down to Peoria for a wedding of the Shadow Lady's cousin... and we used that opportunity to take in a couple of Spring Training games... It was too great an opportunity to pass up!

When we left, it was hailing and snowing... not exactly 'typical' weather... the Shuttle Express guy, though, never batted an eye, and we were there in plenty of time...

I like to fly, and I like to take pictures... not matter how many flights I've been on, I still enjoy it... I probably look pretty silly, but that's OK... :-)

The low fog made for interesting views...

I watched a movie on my phone... "The Field of Dreams"... it was nice!

The Shadow Lady did some catch up work... fun times.

Before too long, we landed in Phoenix... it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be.
They had endured a long stretch of no rain - more than 140 days - but on the morning after we got there - it started raining... just our luck!

The hotel we stayed at was VERY nice... it was a Priceline special, but it was very nice!

The rain was a distinct contract with the obvious arid environment we saw go by as we drove to the wedding...
It actually was spitting snow as we got to where the wedding was, which was at a Golf Resort.
There was a whole slew of best men... it was one of the largest wedding parties I'd seen...
The Shadow Lady's Uncle Gary looked pretty proud escorting his daughter Karen...
The ceremony, apparently planned for outdoors, was held in an atrium, still mostly out doors, but under cover... it was pretty chilly, though
It was a nice ceremony...
Afterward, the wedding party took pictures outside on a covered deck... it looked pretty chilly out there!
We were inside, and not long afterward, they came in, and the reception party got under way.

It was nice... I got the opportunity to meet the 'other side' of the Shadow Lady's family... there wa a LOT of people to meet!

The next day, the sun had returned, and it was out to the park in Peoria for a game...
It was REAL nice to be in a baseball stadium again!  It was a LOOOONG winter, and it seemed a really long time since the last game!
The M's looked a bit rusty, but it was good to see the team agian
We ate at the Elephant Bar Restaurant, which is across the street, almost, from the stadium.

Good food, and a cool decorating scheme...

The next day, it was back to the park for another game... We got to the park a bit earlier in the day, and got to see the players make the walk to the field, and pass "under the bridge"...

Felix, it seems, has gained a bit of weight...

It was nice to be watching THE GAME again!
Spring is about practicing... this guy's bunt went over the head of the catcher, and dinged off the umpire... I was just trying to get a picture... it looks as if he never saw it coming...
Carl Everett... the school is still out on this guy coming to the team.

He has a good bat, but he also has a lot of baggage.

After the game, we headed for the Airport, and back to Seattle... we had a great time, and now we're waiting for THE SEASON to begin!!!
