Iceland: Glaciers
< Back to Iceland

We got to see the Langjokull glacier, although it was from a distance.  Its the second largest glacier, covering 950 square Kilometers (the largest covers more than 8000 square KM).

It was pretty spectacular from the view we had... a large cap of ice, surrounded by a ridge on all sides... sort of a ready made bowl.

Its hard to imagine just how much water is bound up in that ice...

We wished we had the opportunity to have gotten closer...

I guess that's for the next trip.
