Wood Island Light - Biddeford Pool, ME

<< BACK

Nestled on an island near the mouth of the Saco River, Wood Island Light is surprisingly a light house that I don't have too many photographs of.
The picture on the right is the lighthouse in the early 1900's, from the Biddeford Chamber of Commerce website.  The lighthouse was built in 1808, and the current keeper's quarters dates back to 1857.  The light has a 4th Order Frensel lens, installed in 1858.

It was automated in 1986.
