Here's me in Guatemala, signing for a truck, doing a map recon with Jack, the team leader... I was the driver of the second vehicle, a Mazda Pickup that actually was pretty nice.

I had a great time!

This German expatriate watched the Super Bowl with us... he rooted for Pittsburg, but we didn't hold it against him.

I enjoyed driving the truck... the folks who rode with me said I did well, so at least I didn't do badly enough so that they didn't feel like they needed to be nice!  :-)

Snowshoeing up near Snoqualmie Pass... it was a lot of fun!
Standing in the Pass.  We walked around in the fresh snow... it was a very nice day!

At an overlook at Thingvellr, a natural amphitheater where the vikings formed the world's first parliament, the Altthing.

They met here to elect leaders, argue cases, and settle disputes - sometimes peacefully, sometimes not.

Standing above Gulfoss - Gold Falls.

The steam in the background is rising out of Geisir, the Geyser that gave all other Geysers their name.

Standing on the rooftop viewing area of the  Saga Museum.

The Sagas were the journals of the early Vikings who  settled Iceland.  Their stories of conquest and exploration date back to more than 1000 years ago, to a time before they left to discover Iceland itself.

The Mid Atlantic Ridge rises off the ocean floor, and crosses right through the island country of Iceland.
