The 'before' pic
It was unfortunate to have to cut the tree, but it'd be enen more unfortunate if it took the power out. We'll replace the tree with others in the spring.

Helping
The little guy thought the saw was pretty cool.

The problem
The tree had been tweaking the wires for a while... we've known for a while that we'd have to do that. We couldn't just trim the tree away, because most of the tree was around the wires, not just a few branches.

Trimming
I cut away the smaller branches first, to make the big cut more manageable.

Adding to the burn pile
As I cut them away, I hauled them to the burn pile. It'll be fun later burning them.

Ready for 'The big one'
The main part tree was leaning the wrong way -- into the wires, so I notched the tree, and tied a rope to help guide it where I wanted it to fall.

The notch
Not bad, if I do say so myself... =]

Ready to pull and run
After making sure the Shadow Lady was ready to pull to get things going the way we wanted, I started to make the final cut.

Perfect
It dropped right where we wanted it.

Right where we wanted it
Not on the wires, and not on the neighbors house... =] I cut up branches, hauled it off to the burn pile, then bucked up the stump for splitting later. Not a bad hour's work!
