The gardens
The entry way to the Butterfly Gardens was pretty ornate... but then most places were in BC... they really like to show off their gardening skills!

Lots of varieties
The garden prides itself as having the largest variety of butterflies in the region... and there were a lot!

Curious bird
This bird seemed to be pretty curious about our shoes...

Not sure what he was looking for...
... but he kept pecking away happily for as long as I stood still... it was pretty weird.

Poised for flight
No matter how many times I visit one of these places, I always marvel at the delicate structure of these amazing insects!

Lots of butterflies
There's 5 butterflies in this picture... =]

Interesting markings
I never get tired of looking at the intricate designs...

A young butterfly
The little guy and I watched as this little fellow worked his way loose... the last leg of his journey from caterpiller to butterfly.

On his head
The little guy was pretty thrilled that one landed on daddy's hat... while he was wearing it!

Very Northwest...
I'm not sure what the flamingos had to do with butterflies, but it was interesting!

Striking
The coloring on some of the butterflies was quite striking. This was a tough picture to get... he was pretty elusive!

Last look
On the way out, we stopped by the young guy... he was still pumping up his wings, and letting them dry out.

Interesting sign
In the lobby, they had an interesting sign, made of markings from residents in the garden. It was a fun place to visit, and I'm sure it'll be a place we come back to!
