2010.08.14 - Mt Si Festival Parade
< Back to Currently

The little guy and I went to a parade, which was part of the Festival at Mt Si, North Bend's summer festival.

Namesake
The festival is, obviously, named for the Mountain that provides a backdrop for most of the city...

Waiting in the shade
It was really hot, so we waited for the parade to start in the shade.

Watching with Friends
We met up with friends of ours, and watched the parade together

VFW
the VFW carried the colors, leading off the parade. It was nice to see the people stand as the colors passed.

Interesting
This chiropractor's 'float' was pretty interesting. He'd call out a code word, and they'd run out a pattern... it was pretty funny.

Heading out for candy
The little guy quickly figured out that some of the entries in the parade were tossing out candy... he was typically the first one to bolt out to get some. He was suprisingly successful!

Los Cabos
A local eatery had an interesting entry

A Bus
We saw this bus on the way to the parade, and the little guy really got excited by it!

Cheerleaders
Mt Si Highschool was the only highschool to have an entry in the parade this year.

Preschool
A local preschool got into the festivities

Boy Scouts
The local Boy Scout Troop.. the little guy will likely be with these kids in a few years!

Mayor
The mayor had a different driver this year...

Belly Dancers
The Snoqualmie Valley Belly Dancing club.

Duck Truck
Every year, thousands of rubber duckies are released in the snoqualmie between two bridges... people sponsor a duck (they're numbered), and if your duck makes it first, then you win half the pot... the other half goes to charity.

Drill Team
The Snoqualmie Valley Drill Team.

Bank
Snoqalmie Falls Credit Union's car is always popular... they throw candy! =]

Got Living Water?
North Bend Community Church gave out bottle of water. They had shirts that said 'Got living water?' In the heat, they were a big hit! The parade organizers stopped and got some water from them.

Politicans
They put all the political entries together... there were complaints from earlier parades, and this seemed to be a good compromise.

Snoqualmie Tribe
The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe showed off a new dugout, and played and sang along the route.

Old Trucks
there were quite a few old trucks in one entry

Unicycles
The Snoqualmie Valley Unicycle troop wowed the crowds again... they took 2nd place this year in a national competition. After that, the little guy wanted to head out... he was hot and tired from running down all the candy! =]
