2009.11.28 - The After Thanksgiving
< Back to Currently

Jeff, a friend from my bible study group, hosted an 'After Thanksgiving' meal and get together. I offered to help out with the cooking, which I was glad for, because we'd planned to have Thanksgiving at The Shadow Lady's Sister's, and I wasn't going to be cooking the bird this year.

Squash
I started very early, and started prepping things. After getting the squash baked up, I cut it and packed it up for transport to where we were eating... we were using their kitchen

Prepping
The Shadow Lady decided to get a pic of me 'in action' in the kitchen. =)

Appetizers
This is an early shot of the appetizers. Later images would have shown more items, and a heavy dent taken out of them all... they were a big hit!

The table
He rented extra chairs and the place settings to make things easier.

Visiting
While the food was cooking, we milled about and visited... it was a fun time!

The Bird
Not too shabby, I thought. It smelled awesome!

Cut up and ready
Jeff's brother in law cut up the bird. I took notes!

Salad
Someone else contributed this... it looks much better than when I try to do it.

Squash
I made a 'twice baked squash'. It included pineapples, and was quite tasty, I thought

Carrots
I also made glazed carrots, which was new for me. Not too bad.

Kids
Most of the people who came had kids. It made things a bit louder, but fun!

Walking
After eating, we took a walk around the neighborhood. The little guy is pointing out some horses to make sure I saw them.

Mt Si
He lives very near the base of Mt Si, and has a tremendous view of the steep slopes.

Apples to Apples
We plaid a bible version of Apples to Apples... I think I'm going to have to pick that game up... it was fun!

Veggie Tales
While we were playing the game, the kids (mostly) watched veggie tales... in all, it was a great way to spend a day with friends... I hope the plan is to do this again next year!
