2009.09.07 - Labor Day at Auntie Sue's
< Back to Currently

Normally, we have the Labor Day get-together out at one of the beaches, but with the weather the way it had been, we all decided to head in to Antie Sue's instead. We all had a fun time, and then, when we headed back out to Kalaloch, the clouds rolled back, and it ended up being a very nice day!

Morning
The day actually seemed to be improving as the morning went on

The Dinosoaurs
The rocks that the little guy insisted were Dinosaurs

Second Cousins
At Antie Sue's, the little guy met the other littlest cousin... they're all about the same age.

Excited about getting a turn
He was pretty thrilled to be able to get a turn on the big swing...

Not too thrilled
... but once he got on it, it didn't seem quite a fun as it looked, apparently. He warmed up to it after a while, it was the safety belt that he didn't like.

On the Lawnmower
he wouldn't get near the thing when it was running, but he checked it out after it was turned off

Driving
he had fun on it... so long as it wasn't started up!

The view from Kalaloch
After visiting and enjoying a great pot luck lunch for Labor Day, we headed back out to the Lodge. By then, the clouds and rain were a distant memory!

The Lodge
The lodge is pretty nice. We like rustic, and it has a good bit of history behind it.

Panorama
I stitched a bunch of pictures together, trying to capture the view that you get standing along the railing.

Making the face
Inside the cabin, the little guy 'makes the face', which was his copy of a face I'd been making because it made him laugh for the last 6 months. It worked on us, too, he found out! =)

Out on the beach
We headed out to the beach to enjoy the blue skies!

Kalaloch Lodge
The view of the lodge from the beach was pretty impressive!

The cabins
We were staying in the cabins that are part of the lodge.

Heading toward sunset
The setting sun made for an interesting view

Walking out to the birdies
The little guy and I took a walk out to the birds, to see how close we could get to them. I wanted to show him how they dig in the sand for food.

Peace and quiet
Everyone leaves the area after Labor Day is done, and there basically wasn't anyone there... it was VERY nice!

Ripples
The ripples along the beach were pretty interesting, I thought.

Checking out the sand
Wiping his hands off after a close-up inspection of the wet sand.
