2009.07.04 - Fourth with the Family

We spent the Forth the way you're supposed to... with family! We had a great time visiting and playing games, and watching the younger folks have a great time, too... it was one of those days that you really enjoy when you look back on it.

Geese
While getting ready, the little guy was looking out the window, and called out 'Look Daddy! BIRDS!' Canadian Geese were swimming by the river outside our hotel rooom window with their little ones in tow...

129
Before heading to the BBQ, we went to where The Shadow Lady grew up and took some clippings of the Rhodies

Visiting with the Family
Once we got there, we quickly were catching up on everything we'd missed by not being around as much as we'd like

Bubbles!
I made sure the bubbles worked ok. =) Never outgrew those things.

Cousins
The little guy got to know his 2nd Cousin better... they're less than a year apart.

Showing how its done
We weren't the 'longest travellers' this time... we had family visiting from Minnesota, too.

The Volleyball Game
The 4th is known for 'THE' volley ball game... just like the Baseball Game from Memorial Day, its taken VERY seriously

Ping Pong
Ping Pong is another heated game within the family... there's typically some pretty good games being played!

Heading to the River
I took the little guy down to the river this year. He had a blast... throwing rocks, of course.

A changed swimming hole
The kids had a good time, while the older 'kids' marvelled at how different it all looked -- the last winter flooding caused the sand bars to shift, and the bank to erode, changing the flow of the river, and changing where the swimming holes were.

Sneak attack
The little guy really liked all the attention! I think he picked his favorite cousin... =)

Catching up
With nearly everyone all in one place -- even from Minnesota -- there was a LOT of catching up to do!

Mt Rainier
On the way home, we were treated to a GREAT view of Mt Rainier... a fitting end to a great holiday!
