2009.06.14 - A Sunday Afternoon at the Aquarium
< Back to Currently

After church, we went to the Seattle Aquarium with friends of ours. It was the little guy's first trip to the Aquarium, and everyone seemed to have a great time!

Getting Lunch First
We stopped at Ivar's for lunch first... it warmed my heart to know that the little guy likes clams! =]

'WATER!'
Walking along the waterfront in Seattle.. he was VERY interested in the water along the seawall!

At the Aquarium
Built in 1979 by none other than Ivar himself, the Aquarium has become a very popular place in Seattle... especially on days where its raining off and on!

Getting ready for fun!
Making sure he's comfy. Thankfully, we brought the stroller!

Checking out the fish
Just as you enter, there's a huge tank that's basically a whole wall. It almost seemed that if that was it, it would have been fine with him! =]

Its looking at me
Right after I took the picture, he turned to me and pointed, and seemed to try to tell me it was looking at him... then he put his hands in front of his face, and peeked around them... =]

'Big Fish!'
Everything is 'big'...

'Eh... I'll just let them lie still'
He didn't mind watching, but he wasn't too keen on touching. =] He did try it once, though... and apparently that was enough. =]

Demonstrating
I tried to get him to do it again for the camera, but he just watched.

Wrestling with the Octopus
He liked playing with the Octopus arms...

Reverse fish tank
One of the features of the aquarium is a large dome that lets you sit 'in' the Puget Sound... there's a surprising variety of fish found in the familiar waters around Seattle.

Watching the big fish swim
The little guy enjoyed watching the fish swim by the windows

More kids
He also enjoyed watching the other kids who were at the Aquarium. =]

'FISH!'
Once he noticed this fish, he didn't want to stand there anymore! Can't imagine why. =]

The Dome
The dome is pretty impressive... its a great place just to sit and watch the activity.

Halibut
Yummy.

Playing on the Orca
He spent some time playing on the Orca fin.. it was something to climb on AND run around... pretty hard to beat that for fun!

Posing for pictures... sort of
It wasn't easy to get them to sit still long enough for a picture, so we gave up. =]

I'll touch that
In a tank where you're not really supposed to touch things, he was all over it... go figure, eh?

Meal time
The harbor seals were very interested in the lady walking by in the

Checking out the otters
He enjoyed watching the otters sleep. Mom got a shot from across the display of the two of us.

'Kitty Sleepy!'
I tried to explain... but he kept calling them Kitties... He leaned his forehead against the glass... until one of them yawned... =]
