We headed out on a drive up to the pass to see if there was enough snow up there for the little guy to have some fun, and took a quick detour to the Washington State Fire Training Academy Facility... there ended up not being any snow, but the little guy had fallen asleep anyway, so it didn't matter too much.

A very nice day
It was a great day... cool, cloudy, with a hint of drizzle now and again. The kind of weather that keeps things as green as they are, and the kind of weather I enjoy the most!

The Washington State Fire Training Academy
We noticed the sign on the highway, and since we'd never been up to it, we gave it a go. Its been locked whenever I'd checked it out, but this time, the gate was open, so we went up and took a gander.

A fun road
The road leading up to the Academy was fun... narrow and curvy.

The Academy
The Academy was smaller than I thought. The burning building simulator was pretty cool, though. It looked as if it'd gotten some heavy use over the years!

A plane?
We didn't know what this thing was... it looked to be some sort of aircraft simulator, but that's a guess

In the pass
Up on the pass, the snow was in the shadows and higher elevations, but the pass was largely clear. He'd fallen asleep anyway, so we kept going to enjoy the ride for a bit.

Trying out a burger joint
We came up on a burger joint, and decided to stop and check it out. I'd never been there, and being a fan of 'greasy spoons', it seemed perfect!

Nice Selection
They had a pretty impressive selection. I got the 'Rainier burger' - two meat, two cheese, two bacon. Can't go wrong there!

Old Snomobile
Old snowmobiles never die... they just become anchors for signs. =]

we shall return
We'll come back here again... I'm pretty sure of it.
