Every year in April, Mt Vernon, a smallish town in the Skagit River Valley, becomes a tourist attraction. Many Thousands of people, often from a considerable distance away, head up to see the crops grow... which isn't all that weird, considering the crops they grow are Tulips... this year, we joined them, meeting friends of ours up there for lunch, and a trek through the flowers.

Heading out to the fields, I noticed this barn... it surely has seen better days!

Heading to the Westside
The bridge to the 'westside', where the tulip fields are, is pretty interesting.

Lots of company
The roads, largely empty for 11 months out of the year, are overflowing with cars every spring.

We parked at a farm that has a set up to cater to tourists, and walked into the tulip fields...

I haven't been there too often... but every time I go, I'm amazed at the colors and the beauty of it all...

The funny thing is that he was the most excited about this field... which seemed to display a good assortment of... well I guess there were horses back there, too. =]

Our friend's daughter made sure that the little guy was polite, and didn't go where he wasn't supposed to... the little guy doesn't look too happy with being told to wait. =]

To get the picture of the planes, I handed the little guy to Mom... and he promptly started to fall asleep...

Shortly after getting him in his chair, he was out... =]

Daffys
Just as we were leaving, we passed a field of daffy... a very fitting end to a great outing. Seeing the flowers was pretty incredible... spending time with firends made it even better!!!!
