Down with the 'Regular Cars'
This is the first time that I'd parked the Jeep in the driveway.

Sans cover
On the older Jeep CJ5's, the wiper motor is on the outside of the wind shield. The later CJ5's and CJ7's moved the motor assembly to the inside, and left an access plate on the outside.

Not a lot of room
This is all you have... a hole about the size of a silver dollar. That bolt holding the actuator arm came disconnected, which was the problem. The spindle is stripped, so its going to happen again if I don't order a new one.

Low Tech
There's not a lot of 'tech' to my old Jeep, that's for sure!

Cover Replaced
Once Ihad it back together, I tightened everything back up, and put it all back together.

On to the Spedometer
My next task was to replace the spedometer, which had siezed up. I'd bought a new one from JC Whittney.

Coffe Break
While chanigng the spedometer, I went for a coffee break, and got to enjoy this scene out of my kitchen window... The snow is pretty nice!

Wiring up the new one
I wired up the spedometer, which mostly entailed plugging in the light assemblies. The previous owner had moved the gages for the fuel and temperature, so I didn't mess with them. I guess I could move them sometime back to the proper gage, but I'm going for funtional right now, so it'll go on my project list.

Installed
In all, it was easier than I thought it was going to be.

Bolt for the carburator
Then, it was replacing the bolts holding down the carburator. Another project item: one of them is snapped off in the manifold... not a cool thing. Now Ihave to find someone with a Tap and Die set.

Patching the floor
Another thing I took care of was a hole in my floor, right under my seat, and perfectly positioned for the tire to throw water up on my backside when I'm driving. Hopefully, this takes care of it.

Test drive
After that bit of fun, went for a spin to check out everything... wipers work fine, and the spedometer
works perfectly.
Not bad for a programmer, I think,
anyway!

Parked back in its place
I parked Flame back up in its 'nook'... at least I can drive it in bad weather now... and know how fast I'm going! =]
Cool beans.
