I had no idea back in 1997 that this would become as large
a portion of my website that it's become... its pretty much
replaced my Pics pages area, which used to be the main
focus...
I'm working on a way to get this faster, so
its easier for me to keep up. I have some good
ideas... I just need to actually DO them now! |

2009.12.24 - Christmas with the family We went to the Smith Family Christmas Eve party... one of those family traditions that I hope doesn't end anytime soon! We had a great time, and got to see folks we haven't seen in quite a long time. 2009.12.24 - Christmas with the family
2009.12.26 - Stopping by Christa One of the guys in my carpool won a book and gift certificate from Spirit 105.3, a Christian Music Station here in the Seattle area, so on the way in to work, we swung by the Christa offices to pic them up. 2009.12.26 - Stopping by Christa
2009.12.15 - More Snow We got some more snow finally... this time we got a couple of inches. Still not a lot, but it was enought to shovel, at least. 2009.12.15 - More Snow
2009.12.12 - Festival of Lights Parade The Festival of Lights Parade is one of those things you just can't miss every year. The town the Shadow Lady grew up in hosts the parade every year, and its part of the family tradition (I hope) lasts for a long, long time. 2009.12.12 - Festival of Lights Parade
2009.12.11 - Icy Snoqualmie Falls Its been cold here recently! Too cold to snow, actually. Heading in to work, the guys in my carpool noticed that the Snoqualmie River was icing over -- we all drive past or over the various forks of the river on the way to the park and ride -- so we stopped my the Falls to see what they looked like on the way in. 2009.12.11 - Icy Snoqualmie Falls
2009.11.28 - The After Thanksgiving Jeff, a friend from my bible study group, hosted an 'After Thanksgiving' meal and get together. I offered to help out with the cooking, which I was glad for, because we'd planned to have Thanksgiving at The Shadow Lady's Sister's, and I wasn't going to be cooking the bird this year. 2009.11.28 - The After Thanksgiving
2009.11.20 - The first real snow of the year Almost a month earlier than the last couple years, we had our first snow of the 2009 season. It amounted to little more than a dusting, but it was still fun! 2009.11.20 - The first real snow of the year
2009.11.20 - Surplus Sale My company held a charity sale for employees, letting us buy items they'd pulled out of stores as scrap, and the money raised would go to helping the community. Its a pretty big deal, and I went down early in the morning to get in line... and still wasn't first. 2009.11.20 - Surplus Sale
2009.11.18 - Elk on the way to work Heading in to work, we stopped to check out a herd of elk... they're usually someplace around town every day... but on this day, they were on the way to work. 2009.11.18 - Elk on the way to work
2009.11.14 - Training I hosted a get together with the guys to play Axis and Allies to practice up for the next Men's Conference... because nothing's more Christianly than training up to whip your pastor! =) 2009.11.14 - Training
2009.11.14 - CMS Worship Team Conference I went to a 2 day conference as part of my church's worship team (I'm the Visual Team Coordinator). I had a great time, and had the opportunity to learn some interesting information to help me serve better. 2009.11.14 - CMS Worship Team Conference
2009.10.31 - Celebrating another trip around the sun We celebrated the little guys birthday on the coolest day to have a birthday party... Halloween! It's likely to be the first of many we have on that day... =) 2009.10.31 - Celebrating another trip around the sun
2009.10.18 - Flaming Geyser State Park We stopped by the Flaming Geyser State Park on the way home, to check out the Geyser, of course. We also checked out the salmon run, because the park is home to several spawning beds. 2009.10.18 - Flaming Geyser State Park
2009.10.18 - CCC Men's Retreat 2009 - 'Get off the Fence' I went to the Men's Retreat put on by our church this year... I went last year, and had a great time... and this go around did not disappoint at all! 2009.10.18 - CCC Men's Retreat 2009 - 'Get off the Fence'
2009.10.11 - The Jags come to town The Jacksonville Jaguars came to town, and a friend of mine called me about an hour before the game saying he couldn't go, and offered me tickets at a reduced price... so, I found someone to go with me, and away we went to Qwest Field... 2009.10.11 - The Jags come to town

2009.09.12 - A few days at Sol Duc The last leg of our vacation was spent at Sol Duc, which is a small resort set up on several hot springs. Known for its warm mineral pools, Sol Duc is still one of those out of the way places that isn't overcrowded... 2009.09.12 - A few days at Sol Duc
2009.09.10 - Around Kalaloch The weather turned pretty nice for the most part, and we really enjoyed the quietness and peacefullness of the Pacific Coast. Almost everyone left after Labor Day weekend, and we seemed to have most places to ourselves. 2009.09.10 - Around Kalaloch
2009.09.08 - Forks and Ruby Beach We headed in to Forks to do laundry, and to check out the town made famous by the 'Twilight' series... it was an interesting little town. You could tell that the town was trying to make the best of its notarity, that's for sure. 2009.09.08 - Forks and Ruby Beach
2009.09.07 - Labor Day at Auntie Sue's Normally, we have the Labor Day get-together out at one of the beaches, but with the weather the way it had been, we all decided to head in to Antie Sue's instead. We all had a fun time, and then, when we headed back out to Kalaloch, the clouds rolled back, and it ended up being a very nice day! 2009.09.07 - Labor Day at Auntie Sue's

2009.09.05 - Heading to Kalaloch For Memorial Day, we headed out to Kalaloch Lodge. We stayed there last year, since the little guy was so little. We liked it enough to do it again this year. Good thing, because it rained like nobody's business! 2009.09.05 - Heading to Kalaloch
2009.09.03 - Picking up a new (to me) truck The Jeep was nice, but it wasn't really a feasible 2nd vehicle, so after some discussion and searching, I picked up a F150... its not fancy or anything, but it suits me very well, is comfortable to drive, and has room for the little guy in the back... plus, it'll haul stuff. 2009.09.03 - Picking up a new (to me) truck
2009.08.28 - Random pics from around North Bend Here's a few pictures that don't fit anywhere, really... just some pics around town 2009.08.28 - Random pics from around North Bend
2009.08.09 - A Sunday visit to the Woodland Park Zoo After church, we went to the woodland Park Zoo with some friends. It was a great day for it - very warm, but not overly oppressive... and since it was cooler in Seattle than it was up in North Bend, it ended up being the place to be!

2009.07.26 - Beating the Heat It was HOT! Close to 100, which is unheard of for around here. We went up to the pass to try to get away from the heat, and took a stroll in the Snoqualmie Tunnel. Its a fun place, but we're likely not going to be able to go up there for a while. 2009.07.26 - Beating the Heat
2009.07.25 - 90 trips around the Sun The little guy's Great Grandmother had a birthday... her 90th. We went down to the Wishkah Valley to help be a part of the celebration. |
2009.07.20 - Here we go again I got bit by a spider... those things don't like me too much! I went in early this time, so things didn't get quite as bad as last time. 2009.07.20 - Here we go again
2009.07.15 - Up to a conference in Vancouver I went to Vancouver for a Business Intelligence technology conference. It was only for 1 day, so it was more of a Seminar, but it was still interesting, and I had a good time driving up and back, of course! 2009.07.15 - Up to a conference in Vancouver
2009.07.04 - Fourth with the Family We spent the Forth the way you're supposed to... with family! |
2009.07.03 - Down to Grays Harbor County We went down to Grays Harbor County for the 4th of July weekend, and we started out on the 3rd. We were hoping that we'd miss the brunt of the traffic, but no such luck -- it seems that everyone else did that too! 2009.07.03 - Down to Grays Harbor County

2009.06.28 - A Sunday Afternoon Stroll at the park We went for a short walk at the park, mostly to give the little guy the opportunity to burn off some steam, and to get outside our house, which was a bit warm in the warmer-than-average-weather we've been having. 2009.06.28 - A Sunday Afternoon Stroll at the park

2009.06.08 - A few snaps of a nice sunset I'll have to get a camera before too long, or a new phone with a better camera (or both! =] ). The sunset was pretty impressive as I headed out on an errand in Issaquah after the little guy went to bed... the camera didn't do it justice, but hopefully, you get the idea. 2009.06.08 - A few snaps of a nice sunset
2009.06.07 - Upgrading to Windows 7 I moved to Windows Vista as soon as it came out. It wasn't a very smooth transition, and I ended up rolling back to XP. When Service Pack 1 came out, I went back to Vista, and while I ended up really liking Vita, my system has required a lot of reboots, and it ran slow. Today, I upgraded to Windows 7 - which is only a 'Release Candidate' right now. 2009.06.07 - Upgrading to Windows 7
2009.06.06 - Out for a drive We headed out on a drive up to the pass to see if there was enough snow up there for the little guy to have some fun, and took a quick detour to the Washington State Fire Training Academy Facility... there ended up not being any snow, but the little guy had fallen asleep anyway, so it didn't matter too much. 2009.06.06 - Out for a drive

2009.05.25 - Memorial Day For Memorial Day, we went down to visit with the rest of the family down in Grays Harbor County. I look forward to it every year... I don't get to see them often enough! |
2009.05.04 - A rough way to start out a week Across the street from where I work, a truck driver got a hard start to a day... and to the week. It seems he was turning around, and didn't pay attention to the steepness of the parking lot he pulled into. 2009.05.04 - A rough way to start out a week
2009.04.25 - A Saturday Drive Every year in April, Mt Vernon, a smallish town in the Skagit River Valley, becomes a tourist attraction. Many Thousands of people, often from a considerable distance away, head up to see the crops grow... which isn't all that weird, considering the crops they grow are Tulips... this year, we joined them, meeting friends of ours up there for lunch, and a trek through the flowers. 2009.04.25 - A Saturday Drive
2009.04.24 - What a great place to live! On the way home, I took a detour to check out the Snoqualmie Falls. I only had the camera that came with my cell phone, but that's OK... 2009.04.24 - What a great place to live!

I had an appointment, so I drove in early with my Jeep, and then drove to the appointment... what a great drive! I don't like it hot and sunny... but sometimes it makes for some good pictures. 2009.04.16 - What a difference a few days make!
2009.04.14 - The last blast of winter? We had another round of snow this morning... The local news channels all said that the snow was going to stay above 2000 feet. Looking at the metrogram, I wasn't so sure... and the snow in the morning confirmed my raised eyebrows... the snow actually made it down to around 750 feet or so. 2009.04.14 - The last blast of winter?
2009.04.07 - A new place to sit I recently started at T-Mobile. The floor my department is on is full, and I've been in the hallway - literally - since I got there. That changed today... they converted an old network switching room into an office, and moved me there, along with two other guys... we're all database geeks, so we're having some enjoyable conversations! =] 2009.04.07 - A new place to sit
2009.04.04 - A nice drive in my Jeep We'd been having some pretty miserable weather... On a saturday, after some catchup work for the church, I got to drive my Jeep on a nice day... it makes it a bit more fun! 2009.04.04 - A nice drive in my Jeep

2009.04.01 - NOT an April Fool's Joke MORE snow! Just like April of last year, this year, April is hanging on to Winter... We didn't get a lot, but enough to put a white layer on everything, and to remind us that its not over yet! 2009.04.01 - NOT an April Fool's Joke
2009.03.29 - Another round of the white stuff More Snow! We'd gotten a dusting on Saturday, then during the night, it snowed for real! We got about 6-7 inches of snow in all... which puts us well over last year's total. It ended up being a nice reminder that ol' Al might not be as right as he thinks he is. 2009.03.29 - Another round of the white stuff
2009.03.26 - More snow! We got another 3-4 inches of snow... =] Last year, the last snow came on April 18th, so we might get some more yet... We're still a few inches behind last year's total... but its getting pretty close! 2009.03.26 - More snow!
2009.03.24 - At the shop again My Jeep's header gasket went out, so I called the shop I normally bring it to, but they seemed to be too busy, and it needed work done on the carburator that they said they coudn't do, so I found another place... 2009.03.24 - At the shop again

2009.03.20 - My first week at T-Mobile So I completed my first week at T-Mobile. Things went pretty well, I think. Most of my permissions were set by Thursday, I met a majority of the team, and I was introduced to what I was going to be working on, and I was set loose on it... a good first week. I'm going to like working here! 2009.03.20 - My first week at T-Mobile
2009.03.15 - Womens Conference Sunday A good portion of the women in our church were away at a women's retreat for the weekend (the Shadow Lady included). The first service was pretty empty... seems more than a few guys had problems getting their little ones out of the house on time! =] 2009.03.15 - Womens Conference Sunday
2009.03.13 - Down to Redmond for a meeting I went down to Redmond - well, right next to the Bellevue/Redmond border... not sure where the actual line is - for a lunch meeting with other conservative types. There's not many of us, so we try and get together, and be conservatives in peace! 2009.03.13 - Down to Redmond for a meeting
2009.03.11 - Running some errands I had an appointment with my pastor at 'St Arbucks' (he meets everyone there)... After that, I had to go pick up some booklets at 'Scriptures', a great bible book store in Snoqualmie, and then I had to fix my break lights... stuff to keep me busy on my day 'off'! =] 2009.03.11 - Running some errands
2009.03.10 - Fixing Flame Since I'm off for a few days before I start my new job, I'm putting my time to good use... I haven't been able to drive my Jeep lately, mainly because the wipers stopped working... Not a good thing here in the PNW. So I determined that today, I was going to see if I could fix that, and get Flame back on the road... fun times! 2009.03.10 - Fixing Flame
2009.03.09 - One more time We got hit with another round of snow, this time just as the Shadow Lady was heading home. I went out to clean off a spot for her to park, then finished up the rest of the driveway. 2009.03.09 - One more time
2009.03.09 - Even More Snow We got some more snow around noon... about 3 inches. I had put a lot of salt on the driveway, which kept some of it melted, but there was enough to shovel, so I went out and cleaned it up... more's on the way, but its easier to get it in chunks, I think... 2009.03.09 - Even More Snow
2009.03.09 - Another round of snow So I woke up a bit early, even though I'm on 'vacation', and checked the yard... we'd gotten another round of snow. My cell phone didn't do well in the low light, but you get the idea... 2009.03.09 - Another round of snow

2009.03.07 - More Snow The word was that we'd be getting snow today, and they actually were correct. =] In the span of a couple of hours, we got about 6 new inches of snow. Once it slowed down, and the radar seemed to show that things were mostly over for a spell, we all donned some warmer clothes, and went outside to clean up the driveway... fun times! 2009.03.07 - More Snow
2009.03.06 - What a great place to live Have I ever mentioned that I REALLY like where I live? =] Its awesome! The neighborhood is very quiet, and the area is beset with scenery that I know I'll never tire of! Today was a rare sunny day between storms... and the scenery was nothing short of amazing! 2009.03.06 - What a great place to live
2009.03.05 - When a dusting turns into a mess Right as we were leaving for work, it started to snow. Since we were on wildly differnt schedules, and the Jeep's wipers dont work, the Shadow Lady left early to make sure that she made it out ok -- her car doesn't like the snow all that much. 2009.03.05 - When a dusting turns into a mess
2009.02.27 - Good Bye Circuit City Circuit City, once my favorite store, is going out of business. Not sure what happened... they just stopped trying, it seemed. For me, they drifted away from what they started with - a computer store that had a lot of components, gadgets, and the like to fix up your computer the way you wanted. When they switched away from catering to the 'do it yourselfers', they lost me. 2009.02.27 - Good Bye Circuit City
2009.02.26 - The snow makes a rare visit The snow returns! We've had a warmer than average winter so far, and it hasn't rained - or snowed - as much as it normally does. One morning when they were saying 'we MAY see a slight dusting', we got just a little bit more... 2009.02.26 - The snow makes a rare visit
2009.02.22 - Running the slides I'm on the AV team at the church I go to... I really enjoy doing it, and I feel its a pretty important job -- especially when no on thinks about it. If no one looks back, then its a good thing! 2009.02.22 - Running the slides
2009.02.20 - Kutless Concert A good friend of mine from church, and my men's study group, invited me to a Kutless concert at Overlake Christian Church. His wife had gotten him the tickets, but couldn't go... so it was my lucky day! 2009.02.20 - Kutless Concert
2009.02.17 - A late night We were tasked to fix a problem at work... so we got everyone who was a part of it into the same room, and burned some midnight oil. It was a lot of effort, but it was fun at the same time... you really get to know the people you work with that way, that's for sure! 2009.02.17 - A late night
2009.02.15 - Fixing a bug A friend of mine from our men's bible study group needed some help pulling his engine, so I went down and pitched in what I could. I'm not a gear head by any stretch of the imagination, but I can tear stuff apart with the best of em... =] 2009.02.15 - Fixing a bug
2009.02.14 - A trip to the Zoo For Valentine's Day, I decided to give The Shadow Lady the 'day off'. She went to spend the day with her sisters visiting her dad, and I had fun with the little guy. I've been working a lot lately, and she's really been a trooper... so for me it was a win-win -- I get to give her a much-needed break, and spend some time with the Tadpole... everyone wins! =] One of the things we did was go to the Cougar Mountain Zoo, in Issaquah. 2009.02.14 - A trip to the Zoo

2009.02.09 - A bit of snow to start off the week After a 'Dry Spell', we were greeted with a bit of snow, which was a surprise to the local weathermen -- who basically tell us what happened more often than they tell us what's GOING to happen! It was nice, though, so I shouldn't complain! =] 2009.02.09 - A bit of snow to start off the week

2009.02.07 - Out for a morning walk The guys in my Bible study group got together early in the morning on a Saturday for a walk... its the start of a recurring event. We looked online and found a good 'starter' trail that took us to an overlook for a 'unique view of Snoqualmie Falls'. I forgot my camera, but I had my phone. 2009.02.07 - Out for a morning walk

2009.01.27 - Another bout of snow After a brief respite, Winter came back for a bit. We got a round of snow... not a lot, but if you listened to the folks on the radio, it was a HUGE deal! 2009.01.27 - Another bout of snow

2009.01.20 - A very mean Prank At work, the friends of my manager decided to 'get' him by putting a bunch of 'Obama' stuff in his office when he was away. He's a known conservative, which makes it pretty funny. He took it pretty well, and everyone had a good time with it... It was their way of celebrating the change in administrations 2009.01.20 - A very mean Prank

2009.01.17 - Flame goes to Microsoft I drove my Jeep to work, which was fun! Its sort of out of place among all the fancy 'Microsoft' cars, but that's OK! 2009.01.17 - Flame goes to Microsoft

2009.01.15 - An Old Wagon While waiting on some parts for my computer from my old boss after work, I checked out an old wagon frame that was sitting out in front of a furniture store. This region was first settled in the tail end of the 'Oregon Trail' days... the land to the south was pretty much filled in, so folks started to move north once they'd made the treck West over the difficult trail. 2009.01.15 - An Old Wagon

2009.01.14 - Driving in during the sunrise Its not too often when its sunny during a Northwest Winter. It was on this day, though, and we really enjoyed it driving in. Even though I only had my phone, I managed to get some decent pictures that will remind me of how nice it was! 2009.01.14 - Driving in during the sunrise

2009.01.11 - JWAV Meeting We had a reunion meeting at our old church for the folks who'd been down on a trip to Guatemala as part of our old church's mission outreach. It was a good opportunity to visit with folks again, and find out about the folks in the village in Guatemala, so we happily went down and had a great time! 2009.01.11 - JWAV Meeting

Flame gets an Oil Change The embarrassing thing about my Jeep is that I couldn't drive it when it got cold and snowy -- it was literally frozen up. My Speedometer cable has been loose for a while, and apparently that, and some breather caps, are letting water get in the Transmission, and it froze up when it got cold, and I could not shift it out of gear, and the engine would just bog down instead of breaking it free. As soon as it got warm, I brought it down for an oil change 2009.01.11 -

2009.01.08 - A few pics from the day after
Our
neighborhood is flooded still... pretty impressively, too.
Its very odd to see it like that, because we're a good ways
up in the foothills. This is only our second winter,
but it sure didn't do this last year, and talking to the
neighbors, its the worst its been since 1990... and maybe
worse than that.
To add insult to injury... it
snowed when we got home. It stopped a bit later, but
it was a bit of a surprise -- the snow line was supposedly
going to stay above 3000 feet.

2009.01.07 - The snow turned to rain
Its
been snowing a lot lately, and folks have been
complaining... "I wish it would just rain" was the cry...
well, today, they got their wish!!! In 24 hours, we
got 10 inches of rain... plus, the temperature shot up to
about 45-50... the snow quickly melted, and the rivers
filled in... the Snoqualmie overflowed its dikes, and
flooded the downtown area of North Bend... half the town was
shut down, and it was difficult to get around.

2009.01.02 - The Trash Truck Cometh We've had a TON of snow recently, and it seems that whenever it was 'trash day' we'd get too much snow, and they'd skip a week... its been CRAZY! 2009.01.02 - The Trash Truck Cometh
