2008.12.12 - Weather quick change.

One thing that struck me when I first moved to the Pacific Northwest was just how different the weather could be in just a short distance... its all about the altitude of a place.

When driving down to Grays Harbor County, I decided to take some pictures of the route, to see just how different things could be.

Loading up to head out... a light snow, with about 1-2 inches of fresh snow... added to the 2 we got the night before.

Less than 3 miles down the road, near the highway, the snow was gone, and there was a light rain falling...

About 10 miles away, heading up through the Tiger Mountain Pass on Highway 18, there was considerable snow.

The summit of the Tiger Mountain pass is 1477 feet... about 375 feet above our house... there was quite a bit of snow!

The scenery makes for a great drive!

Only a few minutes later, about 10 miles down the road, we were back below the snow line... there was barely a hint of snow down here...  It was an interesting contrast!
