Halloween's have changed since I was a kid.  As kids, we'd pile into our Uncle's car, and he'd haul us all over town, and we'd brave the cold dark streets in our quest for candy.  I lived in Biddeford, Maine, and it was during the time when "Global Cooling" was all the rage, and we'd have snow on the ground already... Some of them were downright frosty!

Then, when we got home, my Uncle would check all the apples for razor blades (did anyone actually do that???), and we'd do our trading -- I was the only one who liked the "Dots", so I'd usually have some opportunities out there!  I also liked the coconut squares, that were shaped like a block of Neapolitan ice cream... they don't have those anymore, I don't think.

It seems times have changed, and its not only those little coconut squares.  Kids don't hardly go trick-or-treating anymore... at least in our neighborhood.  We only got about 10 kids, in about 6 or 7 groups.  I KNOW there's a whole pile of kids around... we see them all the time!  I guess times have changed, and everyone goes to their churches now, or to where they work.

Come to think of it... that's what we did with the little guy this year.

We went to The Shadow Lady's office... several groups set up a sort of "Halloween trail" through their halls, and had a sort of "trick-or-treat" run through the building...

When we first got there, the little guy had a blast using his newly acquired walking skills in the long halls... =]

I checked out the break room... they had an arcade game that had literally HUNDREDS of games on it... all for free.
Even Joust.

The lobby was pretty busy, with kids and family checking in... even it was all done up for the occasion!

They had "Candy Hotspots" scattered around the floor.  Some groups went ALL OUT, and decorated the hallways into haunted houses as well as their cubes... it was pretty impressive.

Moving ghosts, flashing lights, pots of "fire"... it was pretty cool!

This guys office had what looked like a Coffin in it, which is where the candy was...

Some other areas were a bit less 'dark' with their decorations... =]

It was a blast, and the little guy enjoyed all the lights and sounds...

He to take it all in OK...  he didn't seem particularly worried about anything...  He sure made sure mom was safe, though!

while some folks were busily working away, some other folks REALLY got into it!

This was my favorite office, I think... pretty incredible! he even made it look like there was a scuffle!

It was a great time, and it looked liked all the kids were having a blast!

We got home just as it was getting dark... perfect timing!  We set up with our 15 pounds of candy, and waited for the hoards of kids to come!  =]  The view of the Ridge was great!  It had been raining for most of the day, but it cleared up just as the sun was going down.

I took the little guy with me to check out the costumes and stuff... We only got 10 or so kids, though... I guess next year, I'll have to dress up the outside more, and see if I can't attract more kdis!
