Every so often, about once a quarter or so, a group of friends get together, and we play Double Deck Hearts.  I've been playing now for about 7 or 8 years... but records go back to the 1970's... its pretty serious!

The guys mentioned that I haven't ever mentioned it on my website... so here it is... =]

A list goes out with dates, then 'jobs' are assigned... appetizers, chips n dip, main course, Cards, desert... its pretty organized, but its also a lot of fun!  I look forward to it almost as soon as a game ends.

Jeff is the scorekeeper and stats guy.  We're all techie-types, and most of us worked at the same company... so we give a lot of grief to him about his app... most of us still like the DOS version the best -- it blinked.  =]

Dealing the cards is a great time to catch up on the latest with everyone, since a lot of us are spread out all over the place now.  Its a fun time!

Its not as easy as you'd think... =]  Its easy to lose track, which gets you some grief...

We play for pennies above or below the average... those below the average take a penny per point, those with a score above the average give a penny per point.  Between hands, everyone checks the scores, and who is "flashing" - the biggest winner and the biggest loser - even though they don't actually flash, anymore.

The most anyone has lost is about $1.90 (I hold that record), and the most anyone has won has been about $1.40 (Jeff, who leads in the money by a long ways).  On one game, there was only one loser, and now he is known as the "Benefactor"... there hasn't been a single winner, although we've come close a few times.  I have a lot of fun, even though since 2000, I hold most of the records that you don't want to have!
