After reading a story about how its becoming more common to see elk in the area, One blocks my path on the way home from dropping a friend off.

I didn't have my camera, so I had to use my phone, but I think it did pretty well.

I noticed it as it came out of a stand to trees...
it stopped for a moment to grab a bite of grass, then headed across the street.

Once across, it stopped and checked me out as I passed.

Pretty big animals!  They're apparently a fairly common sight around the area - we've had them in our yard a couple of times, and left the tell tale footprints and droppings... they're a bother to folks who own horses, and who grow things for a living, because they figure its a buffet set out just for them!  I don't mind... they eat the apples off my tree, and then the ones that fall that they couldn't reach, which saves me from having to clean them up, so I don't mind 'em much.  =]

Of course, if they jump out in front of me one day, I might have a different opinion.
