2008.06.13 & 14 - Mariners vs Nationals
< Back to Currently

Interleague play came to Safeco Field, and with it came the Nationals -- the first time they've visited Seattle.

We the ticket pack we have set us up with tickets to back to back games, so I went with the Shadow Lady the first game, and a friend from church for the second.  I brought my "good" camera (Canon Rebel Digital), and got some different pictures than the 'point and click' camera takes.

Dave Niehaus, the longtime announcer for the Mariners (he's been there since the beginning), is heading to the Hall of fame... pretty cool!

It was a BEAUTIFUL drive in, on both days!

Interleague play is fun because it introduces you to teams and players you might not otherwise see... especially if you're stuck in a city where the team you support will never get to the World Series...  =]

Mariners pitcher R.A. Dickey, a knuckleballer, pitched the first night... there's just something about a guy who throws in the 50's that makes the game FUN!

It was "Scout Night", and a local Boy Scout Troop brought out the colors.

Dickey did well, but the Nationals managed to score a couple of runs off of him, which put the game out of reach for the hapless bats of the Mariners.

We're in last place for a reason, you know!

The next day was a nice as the first... Dave was in his radio booth... since it was June 14, it was "US Army Night"... the US Army's 1st US CORPS band played the anthem.

When I was stationed in Ft Lewis, I was in the 1st CORPS.

As if on Cue, a jet from the airport flew over the stadium just after the anthem ended... =]

I thought it was interesting the the Nationals were VERY involved in the game...

The M's had problems all night with their bats again... its sad.

But, it still was fun!  I enjoy going to the game, and spending time with friends and family... and I enjoy the game, too, even when we don't happen to win (its a good thing, too! =])

Got some shots of Ichiro... he and Ibanez seem to be the only two players who are doing well, in spite of everything else.
