The Shadow Lady's sister ran in the Seattle Half-Marathon
this year. We went down to cheer her on... which
actually ends up being a lot more fun than it sounds.
The drive down was foggy... we were wondering what sort of
weather she'd have to deal with on the run.
|
 |
 |
When we got to our first station, the sun was breaking
through the clouds over Lake Washington... making for a
pretty nice picture!
|
Not long before she came by, we noticed a "marker"... a
person we could identify to know she's close... we look for
someone who stands out, so we know when to start looking in
earnest... "Airplane Guy" worked perfectly.
She was running with a friend, and we found them OK... When
they came by, they seemed to be in very good spirits, which
is always a good thing.

Our next stop was by Interlake, at the top of a fairly
sizeable hill.
Some folks were playing some "Ho-down" music that cheered up
the runners.
The folks who live in that neighborhood were not friendly at
all... very haughty and very unfriendly. We had to
move our car a couple of times, because they didn't like us
parking on their street. There were no "no parking"
signs, but they come out and pitch a fit about it... it too
bad -- it looked like a nice enough neighborhood; I guess
its just infested with bad people.
|
But, we managed to find a place they didn't whine about too
much, and we got to see them heading up the hill... they
were still smiling, so I guess they didn't have too much
trouble with it!

 |
 |
Our next stop put us near downtown Seattle, near the end of
the race.
It was pretty amazing to see all the folks who participated!
One poor runner had a problem right at the end... he was a
bit delirious or something, and was not very happy at all.
|
  |
They were still smiling, it seemed, as they were heading
into the last half mile...
After the run, we went to the Sister's house for breakfast,
which was a baked french toast dish... VERY nice!
We ended the morning at church... a full day, all before
noon!
