2007.11.09 - Down to Grays Harbor County

We went down to Grays Harbor County.  It'd been a while since we'd gone, and while the occasion wasn't the happiest of events, it was a good chance to catch up with family - most of whom, we don't get to see as often as we'd like.

On the way down, I tested out my new phone's "TeleNav" feature... its pretty cool!  My phone has a GPS built into it, and it has a great mapping tool included that not only gives you the route, it also checks for traffic along the way, and will reroute you around major problems, if you want it to.  It worked great, and I'm sure it'll be used quite a bit!

Primarily, The purpose of the trip was to celebrate the life of Grandma Enid, The Shadow Lady's Aunt's Mother, who was like a Grandmother in the family.

I didn't know her very well, but she was very curious about me when I first was introduced to the family, on Memorial Day in 2005, and she told me to "Not worry... they seem overwhelming at first, but you'll get used to them."  I sat next to her during the baseball game, and she helped me feel welcome.

We'll all miss her, of course, but we know that she's at the feet of the Father, and with her family and friends who have passed on before her.  My goal is for others to know that my faith is important to me as hers was to her... she was a great example for others.

Before and after the service, folks got to meet the little tadpole in person.

He seemed to enjoy the attention!

He also got to meet some of his cousins...  They were pretty happy to meet him, too!

On the way home, we stopped at a Dairy Queen just before our turn off to Highway 18, and had an ice cream, and let Grandma get some Arm Time...

The little guy handled the trip very well, we thought... its the first of MANY trips to Grays Harbor County, and the first of MANY road trips the little guy is going to have to endure... the caveat of being the son of a guy who likes to drive...
