On the way home today, the Shadow Lady and I were figuring
out where we'd like to go for lunch. She suggested the
Family Pancake House, and of course, I jumped at the
opportunity! :-)Have I ever mentioned I like that
place?
The drive up was pretty nice... Its fall, and the trees
are doing their thing, and it makes for a VERY nice drive!
|
 |
 |
The ski slopes will shortly be covered in a blanket of snow,
but for now, they're ablaze with the colors of fall.
|
There was just a hint of snow remaining on the upper slopes.
of some of the higher peaks around the Pass.It was in the
upper 50's, so it's still pretty warm down where we were.

 |
 |
The weather really was nice... it made the colors of fall
stand out and contrast very nicely with the Evergreens...
|
Our lunch at the Family Pancake House, as always, was very
relaxed and pleasant.I REALLY like it there. :-)

We drove out to the lake, just to see what we could see
there, and we noticed that it was WAY down from earlier
trips there. We also noticed that what we thought was a
boat ramp was in fact a road that led out to a camp ground
area... The park service had built a roadway that extended
quite a distance into the flats... it spends quite a bit of
time either under water, or under snow...
It was interesting how the deciduous trees along the
Interstate were the only ones in the area.
|
There were a lot of stumps all over the place... when the
dam was built to retain the water, apparently the trees were
cut, and the stumps have remained largely protected from
weathering, because they're under water for a good part of
the year.

 |
The scenery was very nice from there.
We sat for a while, remembering being there in the winter,
snowshoeing, and we decided that we'd come back up here this
winter... We'd likely have to leave BabyJ with Grandma
first, though... :)
|
Heading back, we enjoyed the contrasting colors, and the
scenery. When I was young, I used to really like driving
through cuts... Don't really know why, I just through it was
cool... I still do, I guess, because I take a lot of
pictures of them, I've noticed.
