2007.10.08 - Childbirth Class
< Back to Currently

Monday nights have meant one thing for us these last few weeks... Childbirth Classes... 16 couples, all expecting little ones during the Holidays, talk to each other, ask questions, listen, and try not to get too worked up...

As the classes have progressed, and the topics have gotten a bit more intense, and the ladies' bellies are getting more obvious, the pace has increased, and the interest level is visibly rising!

They had a lot of "belly balls" and "Peanuts" scattered around the room.

They made for good foot rests for some of the ladies in the class...

I have to admit, I'm learning a lot in the classes... so its a good thing!

This particular class was on the things that can go wrong, and how it would be managed.  The pain management from last week was also discussed.

Its given me a new respect for Moms, that's for sure!  Its going to be difficult for me to watch that all happen, and remember that its "normal".

Some of the things discussed in the class, in my opinion, we didn't need to know... do we REALLY need to know the 256 steps to an emergency C-Section?  "...then, they cut the Anterior... " yeah, its their job - we don't really need to know the particulars, do we?

The video, as is usual, made a couple of the lady's queasy, although the Shadow Lady handled it better than some of the others.

Or was it the "baby doing a faceplant" in front of us all?  (Its a doll, but it was still funny to me)

She said at the end that she was telling us "the particulars" just in case the guys look back at the mom from where the baby is being checked out, and see the mom going through it.  Maybe knowing will reduce the shock... There's a LOT of steps to get through before a C-Section is required... I for one hope we don't have to find THAT one out!
