A tradition that we decided to follow was to put the top of
the wedding cake in a box, and put it in the freezer.
At your first anniversary, you take it out, and eat it
together. We did that, and over the last year, it became
to be called "The Brick", both a reference to how big it was
in our freezer, and to how we thought it would end up at the
end of the year. Since we're leaving for vacation, we
decided to try out a piece before, rather than after.

It seemed to me that it had weathered the past year pretty
well! It looked pretty good, considering it had been
in the freezer for so long.It survived "The Great Power
Outage of 2006", when the Windstorm knocked out power on the
island for several days.
It survived the move to North Bend, sitting in the back
of the truck and almost being crushed by a shifting load.

The outer layer was some sort of rolled type of frosting,
which was wrapped around the cake. It was pretty hard,
but I guess it shielded the interior, because it was VERY
good!We only got about half a bite of cake last year...
so this time we went back for seconds (and thirds... :-)
)
I STILL can't believe its been a year!
