2007.07.04 - Out on the Beach

Before we went to the Family Fourth, we made a swing out onto the beach to see what we could see.

My cousin is from the East Coast, so we sort of HAD to visit at least once!

She's from Florida, so she thought it was too cold to stay very long... the Pacific Northwesterner's beach experience is a bit different than those in Florida, that's for sure!

It was a VERY nice day...

Ocean Shores is nestled behind the dunes, on the North Spit at the mouth of Grays Harbor.  Its fairly crowded in the summer, but its a very nice place to visit any time of the year.

Some one was pretty busy!  :-)

Looks like someone had a lot of fun!

Sand Dollars were all over the place.

These were a treat to find when I was a kid - we had mostly rocky beaches and if we did find any shells, especially these, they were broken and beat up.

It was a rare day to find a whole one.

There were a couple of horse corals, and they were selling rides.  We didn't have time, so it wasn't an option.

We watched the waves for a bit, then headed out to visit with the family.

Nice way to start a day!
