We stayed out on the beach for the evening of the third. While we were there, we got our fill of fireworks... people up and down the beach where shooting off their purchases in seemingly never-ending bursts of grand finales.

It was fun, but after several hours, we went inside, and grabbed some sleep.  I woke up in the middle of the night, and closed the sliding door to the balcony at around 1AM or so, and they were still going at it.

We hit the road after work.

The drive down to Grays Harbor County was pretty nice.  The sun was just starting to set as we drove through Aberdeen.

The town takes on a new look, it seems, on a sunny day.  Normally covered in a shroud of clouds, its a lot more cheerful in the sun.

I noticed that Selmers has fully rebuilt from the fire it suffered a few years ago.  The new store looks pretty nice!

The Harbor was at low tide while we were driving past... it made for some nice scenery.

Unlike most trips we make to the Harbor (which seems to typically happen in the winter for some reason), there were a lot a other vehicles heading our way.  Traffic moved OK, but it was a bit different.

We got to the coast just after the sun had set.

It must have been a good one, because the early twilight was pretty impressive on its own right.

One funny thing we noticed was that Microsoft Streets and Trips must start the water-line at the start of the beach, because it had us quite a ways out into the Pacific.  And, we were apparently hovering - it read 25 feet above sea level. :)

We checked into the hotel, then sat out on the Balcony for a while, and watched the fireworks show.

I guess people were firing off their wares today, because tomorrow, they'd do the 'beach' thing, and head home before dark... most folks (including me), had to work the next day.

Some of the bursts were nicer than others, I guess depending on how much the person spent... the bigger the flash, the bigger the price!

Some folks really spent a lot of money!

It was a lot of fun (well, for me anyway) watching them go off, and trying to get pictures of them.
Around 10 or so, I followed The Shadow Lady and my Cousin inside, and we got ready for the next day.

It was a great way to get us in the mood for the 4th, that's for sure!
