2007.06.21 - BabyJ is a Boy!
< Back to Currently

We went for our 20-week Ultra Sound... and after wrangling around, trying to keep up with a squirmy baby, she showed us what we were dying to know... BabyJ is a BOY!

Cub Scouts, GI-Joes, model trains, mini-rockets... oh, and yes, I'll let him play with them too... :-)

Throughout the exam, which was done in a separate part of the clinic, the lady explained what she was looking for, and what we were seeing.  Good thing, because most of the time, it was a bit hard to tell.

She went through the organs, pointing them out to us, she checked several of the larger bones, and the spine and cranium, and took some measurements off the screen...

Light spots were something, dark spots were something else... she seemed pretty happy with what she saw, so that's a good thing!

Watching him squirm around was a TON of fun!   I could have watched him wriggle around for hours!

No doubt about it.

She drew a circle, and labeled it, "Boy".

She printed that one out for us... it'll be fun to show someone someday, I'm sure.  :-)

Measuring the head... the measurements from today's test showed BabyJ to be a bit larger than the estimate we were going from on the earlier test... closer to 22 weeks than 20.

She left the estimate the same, though... early November.  Maybe we'll have a Halloween baby!

These pictures are scans of the printout from the device... they're COOL!

BabyJ's leg.  She said it was about 10 cm long... just shy of 4 inches.

12 little light spots that she marked "Fingers"  Probably knuckes, or he moved or something... either that, or he's going to be AWESOME on the piano!  :-)
The Lady said the spine looked good.

He was pretty squirmy... she had a bit of trouble keeping up with him a few times... :-)  It was fun watching him move, and roll around...

Facing the Camera.

Sort of reminds me of the movie, "Alien"... :-)

BabyJ's foot.

It won't be too much longer before we'll hear those feet pattering around the house...
