2007.06.16 - Moving Day!
< Back to Currently

It finally came.  The day when the movers came to move the rest of our stuff over to our new place.  Moving Day.  The day that follows one of the most frantic evenings: the night before moving day... which is when procrastinators finally run out of time.  :-)
We'd been doing a bit here and there, after work, but apparently, our heart wasn't in it, because there was a lot to do.

Those little white dots on the wall are hooks for pictures... I take a LOT, and some of them make it onto the walls... it looked funny to see the walls again!

We did pretty well, and before too long, we had most of our stuff packed away in boxes - the plastic ones came from friends of ours at church, and they came in VERY handy!

The next morning, we finished up the stuff we'd left undone the night before, and got ready for the movers to show up.

Sadly, this is about the cleanest my desk has been in quite some time!

I don't think anyone would be surprised to know that my computers were the last items to be packed up, and the first items to be put back together... :-)

The movers worked fairly fast, but it still took over 2 hours to get everything loaded in the truck... its amazing how much we had packed in that little apartment!

My Mariner was filled with breakables, computers, monitors, pictures, and other tidbits of stuff that we didn't think would survive in the truck...

We'd been moving stuff pretty much every day, so it was already "used" to it... it'll be nice to put the back seats up again!

The place sure looked bare as the last few items were being picked up!

Once they were done, and had the truck closed up, I took some last view photos, then we trekked on up to the foothills, ensuring we kept the truck in sight so they'd know where to go... the directions were confusing.

About an hour later, we made it up to the new place, and they started unloading the truck.

Wider doors, easier turns, and less stairs made for MUCH easier trips, and it took just over half the time to put everything into the new place than it did taking it out of the apartment.

Before too long, the new place started looking more "Familiar" as our stuff started taking up some space.
Things that were difficult to get out of the apartment - like the couch - were a snap in the new place...

And then, far more quickly than it had began, Moving Day was over... our stuff was in, and we were full-time residents of our new home town.

We started to unpack stuff - we even had help from the Shadow Lady's Sisters - but then we decided to enjoy the new view from our furniture's new resting place, and called it a day.

Who knows?  Maybe a year from now, we'll still be "Unpacking".

:-)
