2007.05.03 - We're Moving
< Back to Currently

So, we put down an offer on a house in North Bend... we'd been looking for about two weeks or so, and it was with a glad surprise that we came across an AWESOME neighborhood, and a great home, that met our "requirements", not the least of which was price...

The drive there is quite nice... along a major highway, and on a route that isn't all that clogged up during "rush hour" traffic times... the clogs happen pretty much outside the areas where we have to drive... and the drive itself is pretty scenic, anyway, so any slow-down from traffic will just give you more time to enjoy it!

Our future drive will take us over a river...

... and through the woods...

... and into a quiet neighborhood that seems to have a good number of families and kids.

Bikes are pretty common, and we've seen more than a few moms pushing carriages and walking with toddlers...

The house is really nice.

Very well maintained, its big enough, ample parking, easy to get to, and it has a very nice front and back yard.

The back of the property sits on a permanent green belt, which makes it very private, its also about 100 yards from the uphill side of a storm water retention pond... it would have to be a Biblical-type flood in order to flood out, so there's no real worries as far as that goes.

Its also between 1000 and 1100 feet above sea-level, so its right on the lower boundary of the typical snow line in the winter... which will be nice... a chance for a White Christmas!

One of the great features of the neighborhood is a park that surrounds a small lake... its within walking distance of what could well become our future home...
The park has play areas, large fields, a swing set, and a trail that is just under a mile long around the lake...

Its almost too good to be true!

Towering above the trees that line the roads are the Foothills of the Cascades...

Some of the views are quite spectacular...

Another bonus: within 10 minutes drive time, there's a State Park, a Recreation area, and a Watershed Management Education Center... so there's lots of places to explore, and lots of opportunities for outdoor activities...

Rattlesnake Lake will make for some good photographic opportunities, I'm sure!

There's trails snaking everywhere you look, it seems!  I SURE this will be a common place for us to come... its literally right down the road.

North Bend itself is a small town of about 4,500 people... We've only found one street light.  :-)

We're both from small towns, so it already feels comfortable... someplace we'd quickly get used to.

The Cascade Covenant Church seems very nice from our check of their website... we drove by their new building and were pleased to learn that a growing church is within a very few minutes...

So... we're looking forward to the prospect of moving (can you tell?  :-) )  We still can hardly believe that we could find a place so quickly that matched what we were looking for!  We really thought that we'd have to settle for something far less suitable in order to be affordable.

Now, to find some boxes...
