2007.04.07 - Skagit County Tulip Festival 2007

The Shadow Lady and I went up to Skagit County for the 2007 Tulip Festival, and were really treated to an awesome example of the wonderment of color that tulips can display!

Rebels in the midst...

I guess I was fascinated by the flowers that were 'out of place'... the standouts in the carpets of color.!  :-)

Some flowers displayed a surprise now and again.

The smells were as nice as the scenery
The variety and the fullness of the color was incredible!

It was overcast... and the colors were still VERY bright!

More tulip bulbs are shipped from Skagit County than are shipped from Holland, which I think is an incredible statistic

I think they plant the flowers so they have the most interesting contrasts they can!
Sisco was there!

He's a local Green Thumb who has a call-in radio show and a television program... he's very animated, and seems to be a really nice guy.

On breaks from the radio show, he answered questions from gawkers, and didn't seem to mind at all.

Everywhere you looked, the flowers were incredible!

One of the fields we stopped at had a "Rosengarde"... an area where we could walk along paths set up in a garden setting.

They had plaques set up so you could see what the names of the favorite types of tulips you were looking at.

It was a popular location - and it was a drizzly day!

One can imagine what its like on a Sunny Weekend!

  The gardens were beautiful!

We had a great time tip-toeing around the tulips!

We're already looking forward to next year's display!
