The year that was... 2007
The Year in review, as it were
< Back

This is basically a "Year in Pictures" section of my website.  If you want to know what's happening on my end of the node, then check here periodically.  Whenever something "interesting"  happens, I'll put a new entry up here...

I'm sticking with the "Teaser" format I started in the summer of 2003... it seems to work well, and I've really gotten used to doing it that way.

Click on the link that comes after the blurb for more details.

2007.12.31 - New Year's at ITL
Just like last year, we ended the year in the Wishkah Valley, at "In the Light".  Its a final service of the year for the church that The Shadow Lady grew up in.  After the service, we play games, and visit with family and friends... its my third one, and I had a GREAT time!

New Year's at ITL

2007.12.27 - A look at the Lake
It was snowing a bit, so I took a quick walk out to the local park, to check out the lake, just in case I needed an excuse to get out in the snow!  :)

A look at the lake

2007.12.25 - A Very Merry (White!) Christmas
We awoke for Christmas like a couple of kids!  :)  We spent the morning together, visiting with Grandma, then went to The Shadow Lady's Sisters' place for brunch, and to spend the Holiday with Family.  It Snowed!  We actually had a White Christmas!

A very Merry Christmas

2007.12.24 - Christmas Eve Party
We went down to Grays Harbor County for a family Christmas Eve Party.  We dressed the little guy in a Santa Suit... he didn't like the hat much, but he still looked pretty cute!

Family Christmas Party

2007.12.23 - Up to the Family Pancake House
We had planned on going out to eat after the baby dedication... but folks weren't feeling well, so we went up to the pass, and went to the Family Pancake House... :-)

2007.12.23 - Baby Dedication
We dedicated our son to God today.

Baby Dedication

2007.12.20 - Winter Wonderland
It snowed in North Bend last night and today... The hope for a White Christmas is alive!!!

Winter Wonderland

2007.12.16 - Anniversary Lunch
I'm not sure when the picture I scanned of the "scarecrows" was taken, but the pictures around it in the Shadow Lady's picture book show people getting ready for a wedding, so I figured it'd be appropriate to start off this entry...

Anniversary Lunch

2007.12.15 - An Evening with Michael W. Smith
As a surprise for the Shadow Lady several months ago, I picked up a few tickets to a Michael W. Smith Christmas Concert at Overlake.  Its not often he does events in this sort of venue, so I jumped on them when I had heard about them on the radio.

An Evening with Michael W. Smith

2007.12.14 - Acuity Christmas
The company I work for threw a party for its employees... our boss assigned one of us techs to plan the event, and pick a place... and he picked Ipanema's, which is a "Brazilian Grille".  If you've never been, 4 words: Lots of GOOD meat!

An Acuity Christmas

2007.12.13 - Up to the Family Pancake House
We were getting a rain/snow mix, so we took a drive up to the Pass to go to the Family Pancake House... I REALLY like going there in the Winter!

Up to the Family Pancake House

2007.12.10 - Interesting Bird on the Suet
As Fall has progressed into Winter, we've noticed that the Suet is becoming more and more popular with the local bird populations... its a fun event when a new kind of bird shows up to grab a snack -- the list is growing!  :)

Interesting Bird on the Suet

2007.12.08 - Family Christmas Party
We went down to the Family Christmas Party in Grays Harbor County, which was scheduled on the same day as Montesano's Festival of Lights Parade.  The storm took care of the lights, but the Party was on, and we had a WONDERFUL time!

Family Christmas Party

2007.12.08 - A close-up view of the storm
We drove down to Grays Harbor County, to go to a shower thrown by the Shadow Lady's family, and while there, we got a first hand look at the damage caused by the Wind and Rain storm over the last few days

2007.12.06 - Storm Pictures
Just about every year for the last few years now, a storm will pass through where I'll post pictures and images from the news about the storm, because its so incredible... well, this year is no different, I guess... we had a really good storm, and some of the pictures that have come out of it are pretty incredible!

2007.12.03 - The Roar of Rain
We had the second rainiest day EVER in the Seattle Area today... along with the increased runoff, it melted the snow, and the additional melt water was too much for the local rivers and streams... Since we knew the Snoqualmie River was one of the rivers in the flood warning area, we took the opportunity to drive out to the Snoqualmie Falls, to check out the flow!

2007.12.01 - It snowed... this time for REAL!
I was catching up on some work on Saturday afternoon, just about 1pm or so, when the Shadow Lady told me it was snowing... We'd been warned of snow for the weekend... and it seemed it was actually going to happen this time.

It snowed... this time for REAL!

2007.11.30 - Caroling on the Duck
The Shadow Lady's sister organized a caroling ride on the Duck for family and friends... what a great way to kick off the Season!

Caroling on the Duck

2007.11.29 - Flame goes to Seattle
The Shadow Lady needed Gar the Car, and I needed to head into Seattle for a meeting, so I used Flame for the reason we got it for... the proverbial second car.

2007.11.25 - A Drive up to the Pass
On the way home from church, the Shadow Lady and I were enjoying the scenery, so since the Tadpole was sleeping soundly in the car, we decided to drive on up to the Pass, to see what scenery we could enjoy...

2007.11.25 - Seattle Marathon
The Shadow Lady's sister ran in the Seattle Half-Marathon this year.  We went down to cheer her on... which actually ends up being a lot more fun than it sounds.

2007.11.22 - A day of Thanks
We hosted Thanksgiving this year... We had a GREAT time visiting with family, and enjoying each other's company, and stories of what we're thankful for... its been a great year, and we are truly blessed.

2007.11.21 - A walk around the lake
My mom likes to walk.  So, since it was a cool, crisp, sunny morning, I decided to show her the trail around the lake in the neighborhood we live in...

2007.11.17 - Meet and greet with the Crew
My boss invited me to a get-together with some of the folks I work with who could make it -- some other coworkers tried to come, but couldn't due to their schedule, or current assignment location...  we're spread out over several cities and companies.

Meet and greet with the crew

2007.11.16 - A quick look at the Falls
When the Shadow Lady and I were driving home from from the Tadpole's doctor's appointment, we decided to swing through the town of Snoqualmie, and stop at the falls... it's been raining, and we thought it might be nice to see how the falls looked.

A quick look at the Falls

2007.11.09 - Down to Grays Harbor County
We went down to Grays Harbor County.  It'd been a while since we'd gone, and while the occasion wasn't the happiest of events, it was a good chance to catch up with family - most of whom, we don't get to see as often as we'd like.

Down to Grays Harbor County

2007.11.05 - Back at Church

A week ago, The Shadow Lady started to have "cramps" while at church, which eventually led to us heading in to Overlake and meeting the little tadpole in person.  Today, we were back, but sitting in different seats.

Back at church

2007.11.03 - Upgrading the SKS

Rob, a good friend of mine from the Army - the brother I never had - came up to visit, and we went to the Gun Show in Puyallup.  We took my Jeep, which handled the trip in style.  We figured, correctly, that we'd fit right in once we got there.

2007.11.02 - Chickadees on the Suet

When I was little, I used to enjoy the sound of the Chickadees singing in the trees.  My grandfather would put out lots of seeds outside the window, and I'd spend nearly all day, watching the birds flittering about.

Chickadees on the Suet

2007.10.31 - Heading Home!

The Tadpole's (because, after all, he "...was a Bullfrog") first few days were spent in Overlake Hospital, while mom recovered.  On Halloween Day, they let us go home!

Heading Home!

2007.10.29 - Back to the Childbirth Center... This time for REAL!

After a day of "cramps", The Shadow Lady and I FINALLY made the decision to head in to Overlake to see what they could tell us.  We were pretty sure they would just send us home, smiling at the new parents-to-be for being so trigger-happy.  But, we figured they'd put us at ease, and if the cramps WERE something wrong, at least we'd be where we needed to be.  Little did we know what was in store for us...

Back to the Childbirth Center - this time for REAL!

2007.10.28 - A very nice Surprise!

The Shadow Lady and her family surprised me with a belated birthday party.  My trip around the Sun ended on a busy time for everyone, so everyone put it off until later... Today, Later came!  :)

A very nice surprise!

2007.10.26 - The First Frost of the Season

Today, we got a bit of a pleasant surprise... the First Frost!  :-)

The First Frost of the Season

2007.10.22 - The Last Class

The Shadow Lady and I went to the last of the series of Childbirth Classes... so now we're certified to have a baby... :-)

The Last Class

2007.10.21 - A train pulls into town

While in town heading to get Sunday dinner on a drizzly fall day, a train pulled into the station in North Bend.  We managed to see it by accident: we didn't know it was coming in then, and as we were getting out of Gar, our Mariner, we heard the bells and whistles associated with a train crossing a roadway in town...

2007.10.20 - Getting the room ready
While I doubt it will EVER be "Done", the room we've set up for BabyJ is nearly ready...

Getting the room ready

2007.10.19 - Practice for Thanksgiving
The Shadow Lady and I, if all goes according to plan, are hosting Thanksgiving for our extended family in our home.  My mom is going to be there, as will The Shadow Lady's Mom and Sister... all cooks.  Since I'm the one cooking, I wanted to go through a dry run in order to make sure I understood the dynamics of a gas oven.  No need to invite a disaster when I don't have to!

Practice for Thanksgiving

2007.10.15 - Childbirth Classes
The Shadow Lady and I went to our second to last Childbirth Class... For this one, we covered feeding, dealing with labor, and diapering & dressing.  Best of all... NO gross video to watch, and no descriptions of the steps of a C-Section!

Childbirth Classes

2007.10.14 - Up to the Family Pancake House

On the way home today, the Shadow Lady and I were figuring out where we'd like to go for lunch.  She suggested the Family Pancake House, and of course, I jumped at the opportunity!  :-)

Up to the Family Pancake House

2007.10.13 - A walk along Rattlesnake Lake

It was a nice day, so we decided to take advantage of it, and take a walk out by Rattlesnake Lake, which is just down the road from where we live.

A walk along Rattlesnake Lake

2007.10.12 - A night with the Thunderbirds

The Shadow Lady landed tickets for a Thunderbirds Hockey game... Not just ANY tickets, but tickets in one of the Microsoft Suites at Key Arena.  NICE!

An night with the Thunderbirds

2007.10.08 - Childbirth Class

Monday nights have meant one thing for us these last few weeks... Childbirth Classes... 16 couples, all expecting little ones during the Holidays, talk to each other, ask questions, listen, and try not to get too worked up...

Childbirth Class

2007.10.07 - A Shower for BabyJ

The Shadow Lady's family threw a Shower for her and BabyJ, down in Grays Harbor County.  I didn't go, but the pictures were on the camera, so here they are... :)

A Shower for BabyJ

2007.10.05 - A little detour on the way home

I was driving home from a client site, listening to the radio.  They mentioned that there had been snow above 4500 feet, and I'd seen hints of it on the higher slopes, through the low clouds... I drove up to the pass, and was treated to some GREAT views!

A little detour on the way home

2007.10.01 - A tour of the Childbirth Center
The Shadow Lady and I, as part of our Childbirth classes, got a tour of the Childbirth Center at Overlake Hospital.  Since we'll be heading there in a few weeks, most likely, it was good to know where to go, and, more importantly, how to get there!

A Tour of the Childbirth Center

2007.09.29 - A trip to the Seattle Aquarium
The Shadow Lady and I had a few hours to kill before we were to head over to her sisters' place for pizza and visiting, and we were heading to Seattle anyway, so we took a jaunt through the Seattle Aquarium.  Neither one of us had been there in a while, and we both like that sort of thing, so it was a good opportunity to have some fun, relax, and kill off some time.

A trip to the Seattle Aquarium

2007.09.27 - The last game of the season
We went to the last game of our ticket pack for 2007... you could tell that it didn't mean much... the M's were out of it, and the Cleveland Indians had already locked up their spot... so it was just a scheduled game... and it showed.  Not very many people went to the game

The Last Game of the Season

2007.09.24 - Childbirth Classes
The Shadow Lady and I are taking a series of Childbirth classes... and we also got to see a video of a "birth experience"...

Child birth Classes

2007.09.15 - A shower for BabyJ
The Shadow Lady's sisters and friends threw her a baby shower.  Several friends were invited.  I didn't take any of the pictures... but someone did, and they were on the camera, so here they are... :)

2007.09.14 - I'm a Jeep owner again.
"Way back", in 1985, I bought a new CJ7 with a bonus I got for re-enlisting in the Army.  I'd wanted a CJ5, but they'd stopped making them.  After a while, I wished I'd of gotten a used CJ5, especially after I got rid of "TOBy", my Jeep.  So, when the Shadow Lady suggested that I get "Whatever you want" for a second vehicle, I jumped on the chance to finally get the vehicle I'd always been wanting, but never got.  Don't know what I'll name this one... maybe "Flame"?

I'm a Jeep owner again.

2007.09.09 - Seahawks Season Opener
Jerry, a very good friend of mine - he was on my wedding crew - invited me to the opening game of the Seahawks' 2007-08 season.  I was one of more than 68,000 fans who got to witness the season opener - a 20-6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!

Seahawks Season Opener

2007.09.01-03 - Kalaloch 2007
We went to Kalaloch again this year for Labor Day... the family tradition that ends the summer.  This is my third one, and I really was looking forward to it during the weeks before it happened... Its an awesome send-off for the end of Summer!  It rained during the weekend, but we had a great time, and it was really good to get to see everyone again!

Kalaloch 2007

2007.08.28 - Lunar Eclipse
I got up at "O-Dark 30" this morning, and took pictures of the Lunar Eclipse.  Its not often that these things happen when the combination of the moon being up, the skies clear, and the weather warm enough to enjoy it... so I took advantage of the situation I was handed... I'm VERY glad I did!

Lunar Eclipse

2007.08.22 - A Party at Vasa Park
The Microsoft IT department that The Shadow Lady's team supports held a party at Vasa Park, which is on Lake Sammamish, near Issaquah. Anyway, families were invited as well, so I joined The Shadow Lady at the park and had a great time!

Party at Vasa Park

2007.08.18 - A visit to the Museum of Flight
Since I recently made another trip around the big yellow thing, the Shadow Lady surprised me by finding something fun to do... go to the flight museum, and as a bonus, be able to take in a preview showing of a documentary about the Apollo Space Program's "Big 12" - the 12 men who walked on the moon.

Museum of Flight

2007.08.08 - A Sad day on the Ridge
We heard a military chopper hovering near our house, so we looked out the windows, and noticed a UH-1 operated by the King County Sheriff hovering near the outcrop on Rattlesnake Ridge.

A Sad Day on the Ridge

2007.08.04-11. - North to Alaska
To celebrate our first completed trip around the big yellow thing as a couple, we went up to Alaska on a cruise on Holland America's Oosterdam.  It was also the last 'big' trip we'd be able to take for a while, since BabyJ is less than 90 days away... so we made it a larger trip than it might otherwise have been.  We had a fantastic time, and we're already kicking around ideas about going back!  :-)

North to Alaska

2007.08.03. - Eating the Brick
A tradition that we decided to follow was to put the top of the wedding cake in a box, and put it in the freezer.  At your first anniversary, you take it out, and eat it together.

Eating the Brick

2007.08.01 - A Mad Mom
I've had to drive in to a client site more often than I had to before, so to save money, I started parking in a new location that had a better "early bird" rate.  The roof was closed, and I quickly learned why.

A Mad Mom

2007.07.31 - Angels in the Outfield
The first-place Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim came to town for a 3 game series, and our ticket pack had us going to the middle game of the three.

Angels in the Outfield

2007.07.23 - A Lake Washington Dinner Cruise
A team that The Shadow Lady supports at Microsoft had a dinner cruise, and they invited her to come...  and, since it was an event where "Significant others" could attend, I got to go to... :-)

A Lake Washington Dinner Cruise

2007.07.14 - Putting in a light post
I put in a light post for a friend of The Shadow Lady - the same folks who sold us their couch a week ago or so... she's selling her home, and wanted a light at the end of her driveway.  The one that was there was knocked over by the windstorm at the end of 2006.

Putting in a light post

2007.07.13 - My Cousin goes home
Everything has an end, and after 3 weeks, my cousin's visit to the PNW came to an end.

My Cousin goes home

2007.07.07 - A visit to Mt St Helens
We were near the city as the sun was going down, so we swung through Queen Anne Hill, and stopped to see the view from the famous overlook... I'd forgotten my camera, so I used my cell phone... It isn't the greatest at taking pictures, but you can get an idea of what it looked like... it was, as always, quite striking!

2007.07.06 - A stop at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery
I took my cousin to the self-proclaimed "Only municipal Fish Hatchery in the US", a great place to visit right in the heart of downtown Issaquah.

A stop at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery

2007.07.06 - Back to Triple-X
Made it back to Triple-X, which is rapidly becoming my favorite burger joint around these parts.  XXX has that blend of charm, nostalgia, location, and yep, GREAT burgers that really let you appreciate how good they can be!

Back to Triple-X

2007.07.05 - Picking up a couch
One of The Shadow Lady's coworkers is moving to California in a few weeks, and they didn't want to move their couch.  We needed one, it was relatively new, and in very nice shape, so we decided to pick it up from them.

Picking up a couch

2007.07.04 - A Family Fourth
We went down to Grays Harbor County, to go to the Annual Fourth of July cookout with The Shadow Lady's Family.  This is my third year heading down there, and its quickly become the normal' thing do to on the 4th of July.

A Family Fourth

2007.07.04 - Out on the Beach
Before we went to the Family Fourth, we made a swing out onto the beach to see what we could see.

Out on the Beach

2007.07.03 - Early Fireworks
We stayed out on the beach for the evening of the third. While we were there, we got our fill of fireworks... people up and down the beach where shooting off their purchases in seemingly never-ending bursts of grand finales.

Early Fireworks

2007.07.01 - A visit to the Pacific Science Center
The Shadow Lady and I took my cousin to the Pacific Science Center.  We're members there, and since we visited the Shadow Lady's Sisters' church (they were singing together for the Offertory), we were already in Seattle, so it seemed the perfect Sunday outing.  As always, I had a GREAT time!

A visit to the Pacific Science Center

2007.06.30 - Mt Rainier and Sunrise Point
After our stint at Chinook Pass, we swung into the National Park (A chance to use my Golden Eagle Pass!), and went up to the Sunrise Recreation area.  The views were amazing!

Mt Rainier and Sunrise Point

2007.06.30 - Chinook Pass
One of the surprising things I learned when my cousin came up to visit was that she'd never seen snow before.  I guess it shouldn't be TOO surprising... she IS from Florida, after all.  Having learned that, we took a trip up to Chinook Pass, where we were SURE to be able to not only see snow, but a LOT of snow, and while we were there, some AMAZING views as well!

Chinook Pass

2007.06.30 - Flaming Geyser State Park
On the way to Mt Rainier, we stopped by the Flaming Geyser State Park, one of my favorite places, and surely a strong candidate for the 8th Wonder of the Modern World.  What an awesome name for a park, eh?!?  How many FLAMING GEYSERS do you get to see in your lifetime!

Flaming Geyser State Park

2007.06.28 - Back to the Pass
With my cousin visiting from Florida, I get to head to all the "biggies"... and Snoqualmie Pass is one of them.  Lucky for me, my favorite restaurant is nearby... what better excuse do I get than this?!?  :-)

Back to the Pass

2007.06.27 - A very big log
In the town of Snoqualmie is a small park set up as a museum of sorts to the early industry of the town: Logging.  Snoqualmie, originally named Snoqualmie Falls, owes a large thank you to the loggers for its existence, and this park is an attempt to stay connected with the roots that formed the town we know today.

A Very Big Log

2007.06.26 - A Walk in the Park
Near where we live is a small park, Cascade Park.  We finally had an evening to relax, so we took a walk around the park, to see what we could see.

A Walk in the Park

2007.06.26 - Snoqualmie Falls Park
My cousin is visiting from Florida, and I took her to Snoqualmie Falls one afternoon after work.  Snoqualmie Falls is quite an impressive place... not the highest, but certainly one of the more picturesque places to visit.

Snoqualmie Falls Park

2007.06.25 - Red Sox Baseball in Seattle

Ortiz, Manny and the Red Sox cruised into town... so I hung up my Mariners garb, and and dusted off my Bosox stuff, and went to the Ball Park... Red Sox baseball at Safeco Field - my favorite series of the season!

Red Sox Baseball in Seattle

2007.06.22 - Griffey's Return

The ticket pack we got this year happened to give us a ticket to the game that had Ken Griffey Jr's return game to Safeco Field.... we couldn't have planned it any better... :-)

Griffey's Return

2007.06.21 - BabyJ is a boy!

We went for our 20-week Ultra Sound... and after wrangling around, trying to keep up with a squirmy baby, she showed us what we were dying to know... BabyJ is a BOY!

Cub Scouts, GI-Joes, model trains, mini-rockets... oh, and yes, I'll let him play with them too... :-)

BabyJ is a Boy!

2007.06.19 - Taking in the view

While waiting for a meeting, I happened to glance out the window of the building, and really was treated to a nice view.  There are worse places to work than in Seattle, I would guess...

Taking in the view

2007.06.17 - Fog in the Pass

On the way home from a Sunday Lunch with the Shadow Lady's Dad and family, we took a drive up to the Pass... "Just Because".

Stuff like that is a lot of fun!

Fog in the Pass

2007.06.16 - Moving Day!

It finally came.  The day when the movers came to move the rest of our stuff over to our new place.  Moving Day.  The day that follows one of the most frantic evenings: the night before moving day... which is when procrastinators finally run out of time.  :-)

Moving Day

2007.06.13 - Another low clouds day here in North Bend
Its another "Low Clouds" day today in North Bend... They're considerably higher down in the sound, but here in the foot-hills, they're running into the higher 'bumps'... its fun to watch!

Have I mentioned that I like it here in North Bend?

Another low clouds day here in North Bend

2007.06.10 - Painting is FUN
We walked though our house in North Bend, and decided that before we moved our stuff in, we'd paint.

We went to Home Depot, and got some paint chips, and, before too long, decided on our colors.

It wasn't too long after that that the painting began...

Painting is FUN

2007.06.08 - My drive is about to get longer...

While the house in North Bend is coming along, our "Flag", if you will, is still in Mercer Island.  I had to head in to the office (I get to work from home a lot), so I took some pictures... I guess to document what my drive USED to be, once I'm heading in from the hills, rather than from the foot-shaped island.

My drive is about to get longer...

2007.06.07 - North Bend is the place to be!

No-orth Bend is the place to be
Quiet living is the life for me
Land spreading out,
so far and wide
Keep Mercer Island,
just give me that countryside.

OK, so the folks at Green Acres aren't impressed... :-)  But I really do love it here in North Bend!  Today, I was treated to my first "Mostly Foggy" day, and I really enjoyed it!  What a great place to live!

North Bend is the place to be!

2007.05.31 - An Evening at the Safe

Safeco Field on a nice, warm, late-spring day... high romance!  Have I mentioned that one of the things I love about The Shadow Lady is that she REALLY likes baseball?  She's a bigger fan than I am!

An Evening At the Safe

2007.05.28 - Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day Weekend with the Shadow Lady's Family, and had a great time!

Memorial Day

2007.05.28 - Flag Waving

On Memorial Day, We went to wave the flags off the D-Bridge again... we took a couple of generations with us... our Grandma, and her great-grandkids... it was nice!

Flag Waving

2007.05.23 - We did it!

In about 3 weeks, we got our offer/counter offer stuff done, got all the paperwork together, got a loan approved, and signed the closing documents... we're now residents of North Bend!

We did it!!!

2007.05.15 - A Night at the Safe

My schedule hasn't been cooperating this year - I've had appointments on the games we had tickets for... but on this day, I was not denied... Baseball at Safeco Field... what a nice day to spend an evening!

A Night at the Safe

2007.05.07 - LISTEN to BabyJ!

This is pretty cool... we had our second prenatal appointment, just in time for WEEK 14... they used a tool called a "Pocket Dop II" to listen to the heartbeat... it was pretty cool!

2007.05.06 - Vancouver Half Marathon

The Shadow Lady and I went up to Vancouver to help out her cousins, who were running in the Vancouver Half Marathon this year.  She was planning on running it also, but dropped out on the advice of the doc once we found out that BabyJ was on the way.

2007.05.02 - We're Moving

So, we put down an offer on a house in North Bend... we'd been looking for about two weeks or so, and it was with a glad surprise that we came across an AWESOME neighborhood, and a great home, that met our "requirements", not the least of which was price...

2007.04.14 - Tacoma Rainiers Home Opener

My good friend Jerry had some extra tickets to the Tacoma Rainiers home opener, and invited me to take one of them... I told you he was a good friend!

2007.04.11 - Say Hello to BabyJ!
We had our first prenatal appointment today.  The doc went over our histories, did some prodding, took some blood, and then did an ultrasound scan, which was INCREDIBLE!  If anything else, we know FOR SURE we're going to be parents - we saw living, moving, heartbeating proof!

2007.04.07 - Skagit County Tulip Festival 2007

The Shadow Lady and I went up to Skagit County for the 2007 Tulip Festival, and were really treated to an awesome example of the wonderment of color that tulips can display!

2007.03.25 - Down in Wishkah Valley

We went down to Aberdeen for In the Light, a special worship service put on by The Shadow Lady's hometown church once a month.  A trip down to the Wiskhah valley is always a fun trip, and this one did not disappoint, either.

2007.03.19 - Another look at Astoria

We had a wet weekend, and now folks are looking at Astoria again...

2007.03.19 - Walking on the Bridge one Evening

The Shadow Lady and I took a walk one evening to check the sunset, and get some fresh air.  We ended up heading out on the I-90 floating bridge... the largest floating concrete structure in the world.

2007.03.18 - A visit to Olallie State Park

Nestled on a nondescript back road coming out of Snoqualmie Pass (the roadway is actually the highway prior to when the current interstate was built.), Olallie State Park has an equally nondescript entrance... the sign to the park is largely obscured by trees - I only noticed it on the way out.

2007.03.18 - A Drive up to Snoqualmie
The Shadow Lady and I took a drive up to Snoqualmie... mostly because we needed to get out - we've both been run down with a cold and the flu.

2007.03.15 - The Ground is moving

Here's an example of what the winter rains up this way can do...

2007.03.08 - Pictures of Old Seattle
Walking between 2 Union and the Rainier Building, Boeing put up a display showing the region's history. Its interesting reading, and while I was reading, I snapped a few pictures with my phone.

2007.03.04 - The Shadow Lady Celebrates a Birthday
The Shadow Lady celebrated another trip around the Sun with me and her family... what better place to do that, but at Claim Jumper?!?

2007.02.26 - The "Crane Crash" Scene Revisited
A couple of months ago, a crane, apparently mounted incorrectly, fell over. It seems the base of the crane was fabricated out of a metal frame, rather than being set in the ground bolted to concrete fixtures. We'd had some pretty hefty winds, and that might have weakened the framework of the base, and led to the crash.

2007.02.04 - A visit to Maine
I went to visit with my mom for a weekend, and deliver a new computer to her. Her Windows 95 box, upgraded long ago to Windows ME, held up well, but it was time to get her an upgraded model, so I picked one up on sale at Fry's, and delivered it in person, so I could make sure everything she needed on it was on it, and show her how to use the new version of Windows, and the various updated applications that were on it.

2007.01.28 - A Couple of days in Vancouver
After work on a Friday, we went for a drive up to Vancouver, just to check out the city, do a bit of scouting for a nice place to stay and to check out the route of the Marathon this summer... there's some folks in the family who's going to be running in it.

2007.01.16 - More Snow!
It snowed again here in the PNW! We're in the middle of a cold air mass that has drifted down out of Canada... we're breaking several all-time cold records for the area...

More Snow

2007.01.14 - A Sunset in Seattle
The Shadow Lady and I went for a drive to see the sunset on a clear evening, and were NOT disappointed!

2007.01.11 - Aftermath
OK... it snowed... up to 4 inches in some places... You'd of thought we'd have gotten a Nor'Easter or something!I drove the Shadow Lady in to work... doing the "Man" thing, I guess...
I took some pictures on the way in...

Aftermath!

2007.01.10 - Snow in the Lowlands
It started to rain, then the rain started sounding funny on the window, so I checked outside, and noticed it was sleeting large enough to be called hail... The air in the upper atmosphere was VERY Cold, and they'd warned us on the radio that the snow line may dip under 500 feet... which means we could get some snow.  I guess they were right!

2007.01.04 - NOT a fun ride home!
Traffic was TERRIBLE today... apparently a wreck or something closed the express lanes for I-90, which made driving miserable for EVERYONE.

Not a fun ride home

2007.01.01 - Welcoming in the new year
The Shadow Lady and I went to down by the 'kaw to celebrate the arrival of the new year with Family and Friends.
