72 hours and counting... we don't have power yet.
Its bad here on the Island. Trees down all over the place...
damage to homes, roads, and power lines can be seen literally
everywhere. The two-pronged attack (heavy rain to soften up the
ground, then 70+ mile an hour winds) knocked out power for more than 1
MILLION customers in the Puget Sound Area. Today, the radio said
that it was down to 300,000... but we're one of the unlucky ones who
won't see power for a few more days yet.

A week ago, if you asked me what I considered to be the most valuable
items, I surely wouldn't have mentioned my flashlight and radio... but
this week, they were promoted in status, and sure got a lot of use!
In the day, you get an idea of the size of the tree that crushed the
roof of the car that I saw early on Friday...its pretty amazing!
There were a lot of branches and boughs in the roads all over the
place... it was obvious that even the trees left standing had taken a
beating.
Even two days after the storm, there were roads that were still not
opened.
This tree fell, and was leaning onto a building in our complex.
Nope... this truck isn't carrying a tree off as debris... the tree
the firemen were cutting in the morning on Friday landed on this truck -
the tarp is there to keep any rain out, because the windows were broken.
the trunk of the tree still blocks the sidewalk, but the portion
stretching over the roadway had been cleared.
I'm sure it was a loud racket when this tree hit the house! The
roof looked like it held fairly well, but the gutter and tiles took a
beating.
This tree almost looks like it was placed there on purpose... what
are the odds it'd hit at the corner???
It looked as if some of the branches had jabbed holes in the roof...
Driving home from at night... scenes like this were all over the
island.
It looked even more impressive in the daylight.
Its going to be a while before this gets fixed, I'm sure!
Several trees fell here, blocking the road... its a major route, so
it was cleared... all the lines in the area were knocked down, though.
The wires lay on the roadway...
... or across it. Around the corner, several trees sealed off
the roadway, forcing us to turn around and find another route.
This tree is a remnant of its former self...
Lots of these signs have sprung up all over the Island...
This was a MASSIVE tree...
We saw this crew finishing up... they'd put up a new pole, and
restrung the wire... progress!
This road was obviously blocked, turning a side street into a main
avenue...
A fairly sizable cable was downed by the tree. One of many
locations where detours were required.
We went to go pick up a friend of ours to head to a restaurant on
Saturday Morning for breakfast - he didn't have power either.
His neighbor was dealing with a tree resting on his roof... it looked
like it had also crushed through the peak. What a mess!
This house, back on the island, had two trees laying across the
roof... one had jammed itself into the roof, the other one just cut its
way through the peak down a considerable distance.
This house was VERY damaged by a large tree that fell on it.
The chimney was crushed - the tree must have really came down hard!
The wall had buckled from the force of the impact - it was a pretty
amazing sight!
Another crew at work. They're setting a couple of poles, broken
when trees crashed onto the cables they were supporting.
Since the lights didn't work, every lighted intersection was turned
into a four-way stop.
Another crew tackling a tough job...
They're all over the place, working diligently to repair the damage.
Portions of the island, though, will be without power for days to come!
